Default Hey everyone

I am new here. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager and now for the first time in my life I am actually overweight. A friend of mine told me about this site and after reading some post and looking round a bit, I decided I would give it a try. My goal is to get healthy and feel good about myself, that means losing about 35 lbs to get back to my ideal weight.

I have never really dieted before in my life and I know it will be tough but I also know it is only a matter of determination and I hope with the help of my friends and this forum I can stay motivated.

You're 2 pounds closer Great job!! Look around and join a support group. People here really are awesome, supportive and very typically non-judgementat

Good luck!
There are a lot of good tips here. There are so many methods that you have to find what works for you. My main advice would be to find a eating style that you enjoy the most. That way you don't feel restricted. I eat 6 times a day and have at least 2 "free" meals a week whenever I choose. That helps to keep me from binging.

Thank you very much sue and congratulations on your weight loss. I have been trying to eat 5/6 small meals a day and that has worked really well, but I think I best avoid "free" meals because I don't have the strongest will power in the world and I probably shouldn't test it too much.

I completely understand that. I used to have only 1 a week. I was really nervous about it the first time and I planned exactly what I was going to eat and all week I knew that I had a sonic milk shake to look forward to on Sunday. Giving myself the freedom made me feel better about it and I went right back on plan. Now, I know that not everyone can do that. **** I was surpised that I was even able to! I am still surprised that I can! But you'll find your groove
