I never put my faith in any "diets" per se. I've been slowly overhauling my bad habits and replacing them with healthier options that will become my new habits. I'm sticking to 1300 calories-per-day like glue, which doesn't leave room for much junk. A good lifestyle diet I've heard about is the 400 calorie fix, where you have 4 400-calorie meals for a total of 1600 calories per day.
If IP works for you, though, that's great! It worked for my sister, who lost 60 pounds on it.
