Default New and need help

Hey everyone, I'm Halix. I have decided I'm tired of being 360 lbs. I am about to start an intense workout program which I bought on an infomercial. I am extremely new to dieting, and don't know where to begin. The nutrition book I have explains the Harris Benedict Equation, which says
66 + (6.23 * weight in lbs) + (12.7 * height in inches) - (6.8 * age in years)

so

66 + (6.23 * 366) + (12.7 * 72) - (6.8 * 23)

66 + 2280 + 914 -156

3104

It then tells me to multiply by the exercise level which would be 1.55

3104*1.55

4811

then it says for weight loss subtract 500 calories.

4811-500

4311

4300 calories???!! Is this right?? I mean recommended intake is 1500 - 2500, so I'm worried I did something wrong. Any help???

Edit: BTW I'm a guy, if it makes any difference in these calculations.

Well that's an offal lot of calories. If you figure out your BMR which is what you burn just being alive, and then figure out how much you will be burning working out then figure out how many you need for maintenance take 500 away from that or more if you can stand it. Once all these numbers go up you will need to recalculate. The way I do it though (before starting atkins) was take my BMR and -500 and then have my work outs just be extra just in case I had a bad day. Anyway I hope that helpsgood luck to you!!
