Cool There's this new guy, and he's awesome!

Hello there!

So, I'm a new guy. My name is Dan. It's a pleasure to meet whoever is reading this!

It seems for the past couple of years I have been sort of taking on a self help project for every single year. I like to think the past couple of years I’ve really come along as a person, and I’ve had pretty good success with my yearly projects though I totally didn’t think of them as that when I started. So far they seem to have been:

- 2008 – Get my head screwed back on straight and deal with personal issues.

- 2009 – Go back to school and be successful (considering my graduating this spring with an A average, I would rule this one successful)

- 2010 – Once a day photography blog where I took a picture each and every single day for an entire year.

I am going to turn to the oldest of New Year traditions, the most claimed in terms of resolutions, something I have already failed in once: losing weight.

A couple years ago I managed to lose 25 pounds, which at the time was 10% of my body weight. It felt good, but I just sort of... stopped. Got too busy I guess, wasn't as motivated. Well, I was slightly motivated, but not the sort of motivation that keeps one going long term. I was doing it for a guy, and then when that fizzled out so did my motivation.

Now I'm wanting to do that and more (it will have to be more, since over the past couple of years 15 of those original 25 seem to have snuck back). My goal? Lose 67 pounds. I've accomplished about 10 pounds so far.

Now my biggest reason? Well, biggest reason other than vanity of course. Everyone wants to look pretty! My biggest reason is because in the past couple of years I have really found my passion of working with children. Especially kindergärtners. I find I struggle to keep up with them, I get winded while playing with them. Some of them even like to poke my belly and when they do that I get very embarrassed and look around to see if anyone is paying attention. I want to be able to play and keep up with these little guys and girls as I should be able to.

I'm the kind of person who likes to talk, who likes to complain, who likes to have a community of people I can babble at, whether I am being heard or not. It's different with friends I have locally because they get pretty tired of my babbling pretty quick.

So here is hoping this forum experience is good! I know it should be, since I'm pretty awesome b

Welcome to 3FC Dan! I work with kids as well and, yeah, keeping up with them can really wear you out. It's one of the reason I also wanted to lose weight.

I think you'll find a lot of good support here to help you on your journey!

Thanks very much for the warm welcomes ^_^

Nice to see there are some Canadians and some other people who work with kids here too!

Though considering there are like a bajillion registered users to this site, that is to be expected
