Fat and hopeless

  • I'm hoping joint an online community will help me reach my weight loss goals. I am a very depressed mom of one with a husban who is never there. I hope that losing weight will give me the motivation to get out more. I could really use a buddy during my progress. Anyone from southern California? Beautiful women everywhere the pressure is a lot to handle. Please help

  • Welcome to 3FC! From your S/C/G tracker it looks like you're already doing well on your weight loss journey The people here are very nice and supportive and I hope you like it!
  • I'm sorry that you feel so down. I was a "race-track widow" with 2 small kids for many years, so I know the feeling. We can never be as perfect as we think that we need to be! Try thinking about this from a health standpoint. the times when I have looked and felt my best I was eating good-for-you foods and getting lots of healthy exercise. If you concentrate on health you'll get a natural "shine" that comes from within PLUS you'll lose weight also. Check out the DASH diet online-it's good for eveyone!
  • Welcome, Glad to have you join us. My advice is to look for a Support group, Chat, or Challange to join; small groups make it easier to get connected. Most sub-forums have groups covering almost every need, find one that inspires or motivates you and just post to join.
  • Welcome and good luck!

  • Congratulations on your weight loss so far!
  • Welcome!

Post as much as you can for support!
  • Welcome! I'm from CA, and I know what it's like to be around the "beautiful people." Just remember, a lot of them (not all, of course) don't look like that because they're healthy; it's because they suffer, starve, vomit, take pills (and other things), have surgery, etc. The culture in socal is not one of health, despite the veneer.

    Anyway, good luck to you.
  • Hi! I'm new here as well, started yesterday. Nice to meet you!
I'm not in CA but I am only a state above you. I know what you mean about the beautiful woman every where, but don't pay attention to it, youre beautiful inside and out. Don't let other people influence how you feel!
  • Hi! I am also new here...just a few days in. I'm not from California (Alabama here) but I still know exactly what you mean. Try not to be so down on yourself sweetie. I know it can be hard at times, but you have to remember that you WILL get to the weight you want to be. I noticed that we are the same height. Us short girls have it rough because our number on the scale has to be pretty low to be considered "skinny." I have been every weight from my best at 115 to my worst after 3 kids at 186. I would like to be 115 again someday, but for now I have set my mind to losing 50lbs & get back to where I was pre-baby #3!

I noticed that your current weight is 140. I'm not sure if you realize this, but for our height you are just a few pounds over fitting into the "average" catergory. I know that might not make much of a difference because if you're not happy with yourself no chart can change that. I'm just trying to say that you probably don't look as overweight to others as you do to yourself. Don't worry about the girls that look like plastic barbie dolls...often at least one part of them has been fixed! Try to love yourself, even if you don't neccesarily like the way you look right now. One day you will. Just stay strong, stay focused, stay happy & above all BELIEVE you can do it!

I hope you cheer up soon & find a way to cure yourself of the downsies! I will be glad to help you out in any way I can, even if it is just by trying to give you a motivation boost when you need it!
