Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself here!
I am ready to get my act together and start taking care of myself. I am 39 and live in NY with my husband and our cats.

I just got a job promotion (I work in health care) and have made a deal with myself to get my weight and health under control. I figure, I'm starting a new chapter in my career and now is also the time to start a new chapter in my personal life as well.
I have about 100 lbs to lose. I had my annual physical last week and it turns out my cholesterol and blood pressure are running high. My NP was going to put me on blood pressure meds, but then she got real with me and said, "You know, this IS something you can fix with exercise and diet changes". We agreed to give it three months and reassess then.
This was the wake up call I needed. I have a family history of hypertension, heart disease and diabetes and I know if I don't take control of myself now, I am bound to be put on meds and face serious health problems in the near future.
About 10 years ago, I lost close to 50 lbs by exercising. I wasn't as overweight then as I am now, but I did it before and I know I can do it again. I imagine this time around is going to be harder, so I come here to share and receive some extra support and inspiration.

I look forward to getting to know you and I thank you for reading my intro.
