Hi everyone! I was really excited when I came across this forum. It certainly looks like a place where everyone is caring and supportive. I wanted to share my story--perhaps I can inspire those of you who are just starting out on your journey. (I will keep it as short and sweet as possible).
I was thin for all of my childhood and very athletic in highschool and most of University. It wasn't until I broke up with a serious boyfriend that I started packing on the pounds.. and boy did I ever pacck it on! I am pretty short. At 5'2 any extra weight shows. Over the next few years I got up to 200lbs. It was certainly depressing--I tried all sorts of silly diets.. I would lose a bit and gain it all back.
About 2 years ago, I found out that I was pregnant and was so scared because I was already up to 230lbs and knew that would mean adding more weight to my already obese body. Anyway, I gained 35lbs having my son. I went up 265lbs. After I had my baby I lost a few pounds, but gained it alll back eating junk and not moving much at all!
Then one day when he was 7 months old I just decided that I would try out my treadmill (just to "see" how I would feel)... that was in June 2010 (almost 9 months ago). Let's just say it was the best thing that I ever did!
I have lost 115lbs. I am currently down to 150lbs and still have another 15 to go.

It has been hard work for sure but sooo worth it. I am so happy--I needed a new wardrobe and I am super healthy. I feel like my old self again!
So, what did I do? HOW did I lost that much weight in such a short time (always the question)...
My secret is simple. I eat healthy--lots of fruits and vegetables, water and limit my carbs (such as bread, rice, pasta). AND I work out almost everyday. usually first thing in the morning--I jog for 20-30 mins and I use my firmwave equipment with weights AND I also use my bench set--once or twice a week. I started doing zumba classes once per week and now I am doing bootcamp to get rid of the last 15.
Honestly, it was tough.. but easier than I thought it would be once I really got into it... eating healthy isnt that hard... and exercise I now love.
I am happy to be a part of this forum. If you have any questions or want further details as to what I eat etc.. let me know. Have a great night!
