Default Starting Today...

...I'm going to do my best to change my life.

Hi, my name is Tammie and I'm fat.

I've recently moved to a new state where I don't know many people and have a very limited support group. (That's why I came here!)

I've known for years that I needed to do something about my weight, then yesterday, at the doctor, as they're want to do, they made me get on the scale. What else can I say but OMFG! I hate it, and it's gotten so bad it's affecting me mentally.

I'm probably 65 lbs over weight and I have the bad habit of telling myself, go ahead, eat those french fries today, you can start the diet tomorrow. I have a gym membership that I use probably twice a month at best.

I've spent the morning researching my options, I have a plan that I think will work for me. I just need the motivation and wherewithall to stick with it.

Hi Tammie. First welcome. I don't post on here very often and no where near what I should. I haven't updated my profile in a long long time, BUT, while I was reading your post, I realized that we have ALOT in common. I too am 5'10" and I weighed in this morning at 225, I am a bit older than you though, I am 41. Though I have always been bigger, I have never weighed this in my life, that includes giving birth to two children (starting 20 years ago) and one weighed 12 pounds at birth. WTF is what I said when I saw that scale. I cried too.

I have the plan and how this will work for me and I know it will, but I can't seem to get myself motivated. I was super motivated earlier this month until I injured myself and now I can't get going again. Maybe we can motivate each other.

Kari

Welcome and good luck!

I totally understand about the "eat those fries now and start tomorrow" but the thing was I kept not starting. When I hit 235 is when I said okay it's time to REALLY start.

So today or tomorrow go ahead and start and just remember weight loss isn't easy, it's hard work, it's trial and error over and over, and the best advice I can give is this journey is about progress, not perfection, even if you slip up don't ruin the rest of your day, stop, figure out what caused your binges to help you for the future.

Thank you for the welcome!

Kari, I'm definitely interested in finding some weight loss buddies to share high points and low points in this journey to finding my inner, slimmer self.

Thank you for the encouragement and advice. Today is my first day at being honest with myself and really making the effort to change my habits. Hopefully I persevere.
