Smile Hello, new to website

Hi Everyone,

Not sure where I should be posting at after here. I'm not really following any particular diet. I did Atkins for 8 days days, lost 9 pounds and quit doing Atkins - gained back 15. tried again, and only lasted 5 days, same ending.

I currently weigh 177 and I am 5 ft 1 in and I am 37 y/o.

until getting pregnant with my son 16 years ago, I only weighed about 120 lbs. or less. After he was born, I weighed 186 lbs. It took me over a year to lose the extra weight after he was born, and I did through diet and eating lowfat and counting calories, and kept it off until 3 years ago when I had another son. I weighed 145 after he was born. So, you see I have just gained. Part of that is due to bad habits, part is due to quiting a 20 year smoking habit. i haven't smoked in 5 months, and am gaining a few pounds a month.

I can't seem to find something that works for me and stick to it. I am a paramedic. I work about 10 - 24 hour shifts a month. If I do well while I am home, when I go back to work it ends. And being tired between shifts make sticking to an exercise routine difficult.

I'm not trying to find excuses, I do realize that will not help me to get to where I want and need to be!

So, glad to be here!

Hi Stacey,
You have come to the right place for support and advice during your weight loss journey and on into maintenance. You are right, it is difficult to lose weight when daily life gets in the way. All you can do is keep trying, take baby steps and work toward a healthier way of life. There is always someone here who has dealt with something similar or understands exactly what you need to hear at any given time.
So glad to have you here. I look forward to reading about your progress.
Rhonda
