Hi.
I posted in the newbie profile thread, but thought I'd introduce myself here.
I'm Shana, so close to 30 that I can touch it, and I've been on a lifelong quest to find a happy weight. But until now, I wasn't willing to take it seriously.
After I finished grad school and moved back to the East Coast, my weight went from a reasonably healthy 145 to 210 (oops). There are a lot of reasons for this: how I grew up, my tendency to stress eat, being around people who encourage daily consumption of Checkers fries, lack of self-esteem. That latter number pushed me to do something about it, but eventually I got complacent. Ever since, I've yo-yoed around between 165 and 180. I was at the lower end of that on my wedding day, which was a GOOD thing -- I destroyed my right ankle nine months before my wedding, and was in casts and boots, etc., for months and months. I worked out hard, though, from April to August.
I don't like to discuss weight and image (beyond fashion and makeup and skincare) with my IRL friends. I'm really glad I found this place, where I'm confident that I'll be able to talk freely without those issues getting in the way.
I don't really do weight goals ... I'm one of those people who has to do it in more tangible slices. So my first goal is to get rid of my size 14 jeans and to track my WW Points every single day.
I am losing my job at the end of the month (company is moving far, far away), and thus my gym membership, so I bought a bunch of workout DVDs to keep me company. I'm excited about them -- cardio yoga, a new Jillian Michaels, a Jay Johnson, a ballet-oriented core workout
(I love the carrot icon so much.)
Thanks for reading, and glad to meet you!
