Thumbs up Positive changes!

Hi.

I posted in the newbie profile thread, but thought I'd introduce myself here.

I'm Shana, so close to 30 that I can touch it, and I've been on a lifelong quest to find a happy weight. But until now, I wasn't willing to take it seriously.

After I finished grad school and moved back to the East Coast, my weight went from a reasonably healthy 145 to 210 (oops). There are a lot of reasons for this: how I grew up, my tendency to stress eat, being around people who encourage daily consumption of Checkers fries, lack of self-esteem. That latter number pushed me to do something about it, but eventually I got complacent. Ever since, I've yo-yoed around between 165 and 180. I was at the lower end of that on my wedding day, which was a GOOD thing -- I destroyed my right ankle nine months before my wedding, and was in casts and boots, etc., for months and months. I worked out hard, though, from April to August.

I don't like to discuss weight and image (beyond fashion and makeup and skincare) with my IRL friends. I'm really glad I found this place, where I'm confident that I'll be able to talk freely without those issues getting in the way.

I don't really do weight goals ... I'm one of those people who has to do it in more tangible slices. So my first goal is to get rid of my size 14 jeans and to track my WW Points every single day.

I am losing my job at the end of the month (company is moving far, far away), and thus my gym membership, so I bought a bunch of workout DVDs to keep me company. I'm excited about them -- cardio yoga, a new Jillian Michaels, a Jay Johnson, a ballet-oriented core workout

(I love the carrot icon so much.)

Thanks for reading, and glad to meet you!

Thanks everyone!

As for 30 ... I just keep repeating Jennifer Garner's line from 13 Going on 30 to myself: "Thirty, flirty and thriving"

I love ballet based workouts! They're so great for core and legs. I've been looking for a good dvd, which one do you have? Also, try circuit training. Its super efficient. I like the Prevention 3-2-1 circuit workout. Its my ABSOLUTE fave dvd!!

Hello everyone. Looking forward to exchanging tips etc...with all of you!

NY- I am looking forward to thriving! We deserve it. Cute quote

Asherah- appreciate the dvd ideas. Id like to add that I enjoy most anything from Denise Austin. She really gets results w/o using any exercises that are tough on my joints. (Im only 29 but arthritis is in the family) Biggest Loser Boot Camp is ok.

Good day ladies

Hey NY Giants Girl!!! I just thought I'd let you know that I'm a HUGE fan of them, myself! Sad that they didn't make the playoffs this year. :-(

I'm new here, too - I've already reached 30 and have hit 31! lol I love it, though - other than my weight, my life is going pretty darn well!

I hope to see you around on here as we figure out this site! And, good luck on your goals! :-)
