Cool This time for real

Hello everyone!

So I'm a 27 year old couch potato with aspirations of healthiness. I've lost a significant amount of weight twice before, 40 lbs when I was about 13 (CC), and 50 lbs when I was 22 (WW), but in both cases, I gained it back (and then some).

While I do want to lose weight, my primary concern is my health. My cholesterol is too high, as is my blood pressure. I was diagnosed last year as prediabetic, and I really hope that it has not progressed to full blown type 2 diabetes. In addition, I'm in terrible shape.

I'm hoping that participating in this forum will help me stick with it. I'm fairly confident in my ability to lose at least some weight, but I am not so sure about keeping it off. That said, I am finding this time around much more difficult than previous attempts.

I am doing Weight Watchers again, but I don't feel nearly as gung ho as as I was during my previous attempt. I think that the knowledge that I have failed to keep the weight off twice makes me much more pessimistic.

Welcome to 3FC!

I've lost 90 pounds in the last year with about half that much yet to go and I'm right there with you being afraid about gaining it all back. I figure losing 130 pounds is good practice for making healthy choices for the rest of my life. But I've had so much more practice making bad choices - a few decades of that practice unfortunately.

But that's why I love 3FC - the collected wisdom and experience here has really helped me on this journey and I know I am learning skills that will help me break those bad old habits forever.

Good luck this time! 3FC is a great place to start!

Thank you for your reply Vladadog, and congratulations on your success so far!

I'm hoping that 3fatchicks will help inspire me to stick with it this time. I definitely have some pretty big challenges to face, but looking around, that seems to be pretty common around here.
