Hello from NY
Hi everyone!
I'm from Northern NY. I live with my husband, 2 dogs and 9 cats in an old stone house on multiple acres of land. I work for the court system providing counseling and supervision to felons as an alternative to them going to state prison.
Unlike many people here, I am not someone who was thin and ballooned up. I have always been heavy which has gone from "chubby" to "disgustingly fat". I have not spent my life on strings of diets - I think I never thought that it was possible for me to lose weight. I also think in the back of my head I thought that I would get gastric bypass/lap-band some day. Early this year, a friend and co-worker started the process of lap-band and when I saw what it entailed I was like "**** no!" It was just not for me.
I decided to start exercising and eating less. The only thing I completely gave up was soda (oh how I miss my beloved Mountain Dew). My exercise consists of WII Fit, EA Sports Active, Zumba DVD's, walking, and now with cold weather advancing I bought a treadmill.
So far I have lost 61 pounds. A drop in the bucket compared to what I need to lose, but a start.
I look forward to joining this community. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions, but here's the first - a fun one! What the heck to do about clothes?! I wear suits to work and today got out my winter clothes and the first couple outfits I tried were huge on me. I don't want to buy all new clothes that *hopefully* will be too big in a few months! Any suggestions??
