Default Finally determined to drop this weight!

Hello all, My name is Nikki, I am 29 years old. I never really had a problem with my weight until having a baby almost 6 years ago. I didn't gain all that much with my pregnancy and lost almost all of it within a few months. But since than I have slowly put on about 30 - 35 pounds and I am disgusted. I have tried a few things here and there....lost a few pounds and than resorted back to my old habits, but not this time. I am more determined than ever to get this 30 pounds off!

I joined the gym last week and am going to work on my diet. I currently weigh 165 and my goal is to hit 135 by Spring. I am giving myself plenty of time to avoid failure and discouragement. I look forward to using this forum for support when I am having my weak moments. One of my BIGGEST challenges is eating out of boredem at work....I tend to want to graze all day and eat vey little after getting home from work....which would be great if I would snack on the right things. So I do need to work on my food knowledge. I know I don't get enough protein in my day and I over do it on carbs and sugar! So this is going to be a huge journey and big change for me!!

Nikki

Welcome to 3FC! You're going to learn a lot while you're here. Feel free to jump in anywhere! Do you know how you'd like to lose the weight? Calorie counting, or a program like Weight Watchers or South Beach?

Thanks everyone. To answer the above question I will be primarily calorie counting and working out 3-4 days a week. I have a major issue with sugar that I will be struggling to kick as well. I also suffer from hypoclycemia, so not only am I doing this to lose weight, I am changing my diet to help me feel better overall and avoid the dreaded blood sugar drop!

Welcome, Nikki! It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on what you need to do. We're here to help. (And I bet most of us are still working on the sugar demon from time to time, so lots of chicks who know where you're at)

Hi Nikki!

I had the same problem: snacking at work... all my colleagues eating and snacking cookies, cake, sweets, chips... I couldn't resist at the time.
Then I started to take fruits with me (apple, pear, banana, grapes...) and that helped me a lot.

Keep up your motivation, you will be able to reach your goals

Welcome! I also calorie count and try to exercise at least five days a week. Calorie counting becomes obsessive for some (me!). I often am told to shush when around family members consuming mountains of calories on sweets and fried foods because I inevitably tell them the calorie amount of whatever they are eating.

Good luck on your goals!

Hi Nikki!

Welcome! I too am a sugar fiend/addict, I have a terrible time with the carbs, I started on Ideal Protein on August 9th and have had amazing results and no longer have the cravings (thank goodness) and have lost 40 pounds as of today! Yay! I have tried many diets over the past 10 years - I lose a few pounds then pack them back on plus some. But no more, this website is amazing! You will find tons of support and the best ideas and solutions.

I wish you success and tons of support on your journey!

Sue
