Unhappy Hello
Hi guys

I joined today because I do not want to go to work tomorrow.....

I moved away for work and don't know anyone here. Last week someone at my new job made fun of my weight - and for the first time there was no one to dry my tears and make me laugh.

I have only been here for a month and now I feel scared to even try to make friends at work. I feel silently criticized when I eat.

Anyways I hope this works, I spent the entire weekend reading about south beach diet. I hope I can do this. I miss my friends back home so much - I wanted to call someone and cry when I got home on Friday but I don't want to seem sad or depressed for moving. They worry about me too much anyways.

I just need a resolve and to keep going at it. I am so impressed by all the people here who succeeded and hope someday I can join them too.

I am so sorry someone treated you that way, that is unbelievable especially coming from someone who I assume is a colleague of yours? Anyways don't let them bother you - they're obviously an idiot.

That must be difficult too when you're missing home and friends and starting out. Keep posting here though, we're all here for you and rooting for you - you can do this!!

Wow, settling in to a new place is so hard. Hang in there- it will get better. Even if you have to work with a jerk like that. Seriously, what kind of person makes fun of someone's weight?

It sounds like you have friends who really love you, and there is a reason for that. i know sometimes when I'm feeling really down on myself, it does help to remember that I have amazing friends who seem to think I'm pretty great, too. I'm trying to be better about reaching out when I'm having a hard time- I think they probably won't want to hear about it, they're busy, I don't want them to worry. But I always feel better after talking to them, and you know what? They do too.

I don't follow any particular diet plan, but South Beach always seems like a good one- I do look at the recipes. I hope you find some great markets in your new area and have fun planning delicious meals. Keep us posted on your progress!

Welcome, I'm sorry you are having such a hard time right now. I've never understood how lashing out at others makes some people feel better about themselves. I'm sure there are some nice people at your work; hang in there! I suggest you look for a Support Group or Challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated, find one that inspires you or fits your needs, and just post to join.

You might check the South Beach forum if you haven't found it already.
