Default Newbie :)

Hi I am a 25 year old who is fed up with being fat. All my life I've struggled with weight issues. I've tried different things in the past (mostly starving myself) and got some results but soon after I would quit dieting I would gain it all back. Today I am at my highest weight 215 lbs and I am desperate to lose it all. I decided to try to do it the slow and healthy way. No quick fixes, more a lifestyle change.
I joined the gym and I am starting to eat healthy foods again salads, oatmeal, fruits etc. No more junk food or sweets. Unfortunately I haven't seen any result so far but it's only been a week so I guess I need to be patient.
The truth is I really don’t know how to lose the weight the healthy way. Whenever I don’t see results fast I want to go back to my good old starvation mode. I am trying really hard to resist that right now.

Thanks for reading my story, I hope I didn't bore anybody.
I really enjoyed reading this forum for the past few days. I love how this place is filled with positive thinking and encouragement. I’m really glad I found you guys

Hi Hermy! It's hard getting started.....But You Can Do It! I started by eating healthier, then added some exercise after about a week. When I eat out I try to pick something Healthier, I also have them bring me a To-Go Box & take half out before I even start eating(That way I'm Not Tempted to Eat it All!) Good Luck!

I think the best advice I got was to make sure you don't cut out any of the good food groups. It's important to provide your body with everything it needs, cause you won't really lose any weight.

I hope you see some results soon, and congrats on deciding to go the healthy way!

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. It means the world to me!
I am trying to eat all food groups because I realize it is not healthy if I just cut out something completely. I have been trying to be good and only eat half of my plate when I go out to eat or anywhere else I don’t have control over my portion size. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesnt.

I have been reading a book called Naturally Skinny by B. Frankel and it has helped me with some ideas and concepts as to what is healthy food and how to eat out and stuff. Anybody else read this book? Opinions?

Again thanks guys
