First timer!!

  • A friend of mine told me about this site so I thought I would check it out. I started on another one of my diets today. AGAIN!!! I know dieting does not help, it has to be a life style change. This has been an extremely emotional battle and roller coaster all of my life. I am 31 and 355 lbs today. It is absolutely sickening. I was so embarassed last Saturday at a girl scout event with my troop. They all put on their shirts for our ceremony and I changed into a pair of black slacks and a white top. I looked hideous. I was so close to leaving and having someone else take care of the ceremony. I kept thinking, "How could you let yourself get this big"? I feel sorry for my kids having the "fat mom". The mom that doesn't want to go to their school because I don't want the other kids to make fun of them having a mom this big. I have tried very hard to make sure they do not EVER have to go through what I have gone through my whole life. I don't keep things in the house because I scarf it all down in the car and hide the evidence. I see the look in their eyes when I talk about my weight and they are scared. I see their sadness because of mine. They will say "mom, you are not fat, you are just bigger than some people". I know that I have to do this for me. I cannot continue down this self destructive path!! Wow, I have tears flowing down my face and I don't know what else to say right now. I didn't intend for all of this to come out. I will end this and see where this journey takes me.
  • If you just keep that passion and that motivation, you'll have all the tools you need. It's a journey and you have to stick with it. No path is the right one, find the one that works best for you... but NEVER give up.

This site has a ton of good info, calorie counting, WW, low carb. Decide what you're going to do and do it. Many people have done it, you can too. Just be dedicated!
  • Hi and welcome to 3FC.

This is the best place for support, advice and inspiration.

Here are some suggestions from me -

Check out our Success Stories here for amazing inspiration - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/#success-stories

Choose an eating plan that will work for you and your life for life. For me, it is calorie counting. Calorie counting is simple and free. I do it for free at sparkpeople.com. You can check out more on calorie counting and other eating plans at the Diet Central here - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/#diet-central

Whatever plan you choose, stick to it 150% and never forget that you can do it and you and your health are worth it.

    Good luck with your goals.

    Hugs
    Michelle
  • Hi, I'm new here too! I discovered this place a while ago, and the support factor here is just fantastic! I'm happy to be involved in a community where everyone can relate to the weight issues I go through. Everyone seems so nice.
  • I'm a newbie as well. I am using a awseome calorie counting site called MyFitness Pal and its free as well. While they have an online community as well, its not as active as this place is. I lurked for a bit before joining cause I liked reading other people's thoughts and discussions.
What I found is that this is a nice safe, and supportive place to be! So welcome aboard. You'll really like it here.
