Default Changing my lifestyle

Hello all. My name is Cyndi and I decided that I need to change my lifestyle so I will be around for my two girls. I am currently at the highest weight that I have ever been at and it doesn't make me happy. It does however motivate me to get off my butt and exercise and watch/change what I eat. My husband and I and two of our closest friends (they are married) all started the South Beach Diet on April 5. We are at the end of day 4 and so far things are going well. I am still having some food cravings and I seem to be hungry a lot, but I am not giving in. I believe the reason I seem so hungry is I am a boredom eater so I ate alot in the last several months.

water! drink lots of lots of water! i mean, at the very least the 8oz 8 times a day. Increases your water input will not only help with cravings and hunger but is a metabolism booster too! if your not used to drinking that much water start slowly and work your way up. Also, just think how much calories your saving by not drinking other liquids :P Good luck!

Thanks all. I don't think I have ever drank this much water. I always drank soda or juice of some sort. I have never been a fan of water (too pain I think), but now after my 2 cups of coffee it is natural to grab a bottle of water. I have been using some of the crystal light flavor packets too which helps mix it up. I have a hiatal hernia and acid reflux and since I have started this I have not had any heartburn. So hopefully this change will help w/ my medical issues.

hi and welcome.

i know a lot of people swear by south beach, but for me personally it didnt work out too well. calorie counting seems to be the only thing that works for me.

Hi cyndi! Congrats on taking the first steps!

How are you dealing with cravings? I've done the SBD before and I know they can be pretty brutal for the first week.

Keep up the good work!

Come on over to the South Beach Diet forum and post. We love newbies You should not be hungry on SBD. Maybe we could take a look at your menus and offer some suggestions?

Viviane - the best thing for the cravings is getting enough dairy and beans. They really help with that and any sugar withdrawal symptoms.

Welcome! I have found that sticking to the WW plan and coming to this site has been successful. I am new also-been around about 2 weeks--tried it last year and did it for 2 weeks. The people on this site are such a huge motivation. Just keep your head up and remember nothing tastes as good as healthy (some say skinny) is going to feel!! Be blessed and encouraged.
