Default Trying this again.

Hi, I'm 24 yrs old and happily married.

I've lost weight before by walking 30 minutes daily and lowering my calorie intake. I went from 160 lbs to 120 lbs. It took a while though because I got lazy at times. I started a new job in 2006. I started eating fast food everyday and not exercising. Since then, I've ballooned up to 180 lbs. I find comfort in food when I'm happy, mad, irritated, frustrated, bored, sad, etc. It seems to be a constant struggle to lose weight. I have tried for the past year or so and always make it my "New Yrs Resolution". I fail with each attempt within the few hrs or days. I really love watching Celebrity Fit Club, that is a great show for motivation. A new season started last night and I really want to lose the weight this time. I know my family and friends always hear me saying "I'll do this" and "I'll do that" but it never happens and it's getting old I'm sure of hearing it constantly and not seeing any progress. Another problem of mine is that I get real jittery if I don't have sugary foods and things like that or if I don't eat as much I feel like I'm starving. I've gotten in such a routine too lately and I have bad habits keeping me from doing this. I'm a real picky eater, I don't like meat hardly or vegetables, or fruit. I don't like juice. I love pasta, bread, and chocolate. So anyways, I'm just trying to do this again.

Highest: 180
Starting: 177.5
Current: 177.5
Mini Goal: 150 (October 01 2010, I'm going to be a bridesmaid!)
Overall Goal: 120-125 (March 2011)

PURPLESPECKLE ~ well, you have some limitations there, but maybe make up a plan with the foods you do like and count calories; then start with 1 day at a time. We do have a calorie counter's forum here; take a look around and jump in wherever you feel comfortable ...

Well if you can find a diet of pasta, bread, and chocolate that works better than eating meat, veggies, and fruit sign me up

Hopefully you can change that a bit. The problem is that the foods you list you like are super high in calorie density, so what is likely to happen is if you restrict your calories to accomodate those foods, you will be eating so little volume that you'll be starved a lot. That's a tough thing to deal with, at least for me.

Regardless, welcome and good luck!

Thanks everyone for your input. I've been limiting myself 1300 calories a day and working out for 30 minutes on the Gazelle. I've lost 5.5 lbs since I posted this bulletin. I'm so proud of myself for sticking with it this time. Like I said I've tried to get back into the habit for so long and always failed and I'm so surprised that I'm actually doing it this time. I like having support on this forum and reading other peoples success stories. It really motivates me to do great. I'm trying to make this a lifestyle rather than just trying to lose weight fast and then gain it all back again. I agree, randomcards, that if I try to eat those foods and count the calories I'll be eating so little and starving. I looked at the foods I had been eating before and the calories and I just thought "Well no wonder I was gaining so much weight, 1 CUP of the macaroni I ate was 400 calories!!" That is a lot just in one setting and to have milk or pop added to the mix. That's just not healthy. Right now, I'm taking baby steps. I read on Prevention's website that it's better to not consume more than 300-400 calories for each meal. I've been using that method and eating things like:

-low calorie entree's
-yogurt
-celery
-cucumbers
-90 calorie rice crispy treats (instead of chocolate)
-hot pockets
-etc.
