Default Hi there.

I'm new, just wanted to introduce myself. I've struggled with eating disorders most of my life and I've recently come to the conclusion that *not* eating really can slow my metabolism to the point of weight gain off the little that I do eat. I'm looking for support in overcoming my eating/exercising disorder and encouragement, and I'm looking to encourage others as well.

Hi.

Hi there & welcome I too have battled eating disorders my whole life and one of my major struggles on the path to weight loss is actually eating enough! I've been setting an alarm (at the suggestion of some on here) to remind me to eat. That way it's a conscious choice.
I'm sorry you have these issues but I'm happy to meet someone who may be able to fully relate.
Best of luck for your journey

Thanks, guys! Its nice to meet you!

CD3--That's what I'm learning, and it's really hard for me to face because not eating has worked in weight loss before, but now it really doesn't. Which is confusing, because I am VERY (obsessively) active--I have a horse, I'm on the track team, I ran a marathon last Christmas, I played racquetball religiously...but gained fat. ?_?

And I also use not eating it as a substitute for the lack of control I have had in other areas. Do you think this is common?

I think that I need to learn to "graze."

I've looked around in the forum for a while and I love the community and encouragement here.

Hi Lahlem!
So many of us have tried the not eating plan too, only to find, like you, that it just made things worse - how smart to focus on health and not just a diet or a number - the support you need is here to get through the ups and downs - we'll all be here to cheer you on..

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired. Try the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation. Check out the Chicks in Control - you'll be a great addition, sharing support and advice with others battling eating disorders too.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals ,
Lee

Yes, overeating and not feeling in control are familiar with me too. Good luck on your journey!
