Default hello from the cold white north

Hi! My name is Mo and I'm (obviously) new to the forum. It's so good to see that there's a place where I can chat with others about my journey. I have struggled with my body size all my life and recently I decided to change that by adapting a more healthy lifestyle.

I am currently at 160 pounds. My highest weight was 170ish which was about a month ago. Since then I've been eating better. My goal weight is 120 pounds by June. I will be at a healthy BMI at 145 and that's going to be my mini goal, I think.

I do have a gym membership and am usually pretty active with soccer but recently I injured myself. I have patellar tendinitis (jumper's knee) and basically can't do much (ie climb a lot of stairs without crying) because of a crapload of knee pain. I hurt my knee in August, was stupid and didn't rest it immediately - instead went on to play the rest of the soccer tournament (we won!)...plus the regular season of soccer which lasted until early October. Only last month did I decide to go see my doctor and then he diagnosed me. I've saw a podiatrist and I'm getting orthotics December 8th which is supposed to help. Until then I am resting, hoping that will help my knee and once I get into the orthotics I will resume activity. Trust me, this lack of exersize is really boring to me and I know that being immobile will slow the weight loss but I would rather let my knee heal than ruin it forever.

Anyways, I've spoken too much. Thanks for this wonderful community, I'm glad to join it and hope that every succeeds with their goals.

Welcome, glad you're here! I'm sorry you hurt yourself. My eldest got orthotics this past summer and it has made an amazing difference for her knee pain. Hope they work as well for you.

Again, welcome.

Hello Mo! It's great to have you here.
I'm sorry about your knee injury. You're wise to follow doctor's orders until you're completely healed. I hope that healing comes quickly.

Hi Mo!
Sounds like you've got the right perspective -health not diet. Good luck with the knee injury - I know how that is, I'm dealing with the aftermath of an accident myself - all the best with your goals - we'll all be here to cheer you on!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different plans to help you get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
