Default Looking for a light at the end of the tunnel

Hey there,

After reading all your wonderful posts and success stories I decided to sign up – what do I have to lose? I’m 19, just under 238pounds and at 5’8 I’m classed as Obese. I was always a heavy child but very confident and active so it didn’t bother me. When I was 14 I was diagnosed with polysistic ovarian syndrome, which has left me with little metabolism and of course I felt like the world had ended. I am NOT a big eater – and I mean it. I know plenty of people say this, while eating a packet of biscuits a day. But I’m not, I eat maybe twice a day, little portions, plenty of water, I don’t really like chocolate or anything too sweet. But I am getting bigger and bigger and enough is enough... so I’m here to read your stories, maybe get some tips, hopefully meet at least one other person with this syndrome.

My mind feels thin, my body is just letting me down

Hi there, Tanzer, first of all its nice to meet you. I'm new here as well, and I know what you mean. I've been big all my life and have spent years struggling with my weight. I was heavier than I am now, but I'm still trying to find the best choices for me on how to lose weight.

You and I have things in common though, I don't like chocolate at all and can't stand really sweet things. I'm not a big fan of chips and other 'junk' foods either. I eat twice a day, regular meals with some snacks, and I carry bottles of water everywhere, all the time. Enough really is enough, there's hope there for us though, that we took steps to start this journey is a great thing.

I don't really have a story yet, but I am just starting out on this journey to really try and give my all to getting a healthier me. Whatever help I can be, just let me know, even if its just to talk. If I find things that work for me along my journey, I'll be glad to relay the information to you.

Hi Tanzer!
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few weeks myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome aboard - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
