Default totally lost...

Hi, I am new this website. I have never joined a group like this, but I am kind of at my wits end. I am 27 years old, I have a wonderful husband, and a beautiful 2 year old boy. I live in very rural Iowa. I am almost 6ft tall and weigh like 285 pounds. I have been married for almost 5 years and have gained about 100 pounds since I got married. I have got to lose weight. I want to get pregnant again and I can't do it in my current state. I have been trying now for about 10 months and I know it is because of my weight. I try to go on diets. I really do, but it's like as soon as I say I am starting a diet, I start craving everything that is bad for me. I don't know I guess I am an emotional eater. I am bummed because I can't get pregnant, I can't get pregnant because I am fat, I eat because I am bummed, and get fatter. This is obviously not what I need. I need help. I can't join WW or any groups because it is 35+ miles to the nearest meeting and we can't afford that every week. I am thinking about trying to start my own weight loss support group in my town. But, I am scared no one will join and I will feel even more at a loss. I just need more self control...I know this, but I still can't do it. I just don't know what to do. I am a stay at home mom and it is soooo easy to just go to the kitchen and snack...I think that getting this all off of my chest has helped a little. Maybe being on here and reading what everyone is saying and also writing my thoughts down will help. Well, isn't this one heck of an intro....thanks.

Hi and welcome to 3FC!

I am a calorie counter. It is fairly simple, flexible and free! You can check it and other eating plans out at our Diet Central here - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/#diet-central

We also have a forum for those who have issues with overeating and binging here - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chicks-control-64/

This whole site is full of support and encouragement. I can't stress enough how much of an impact it has been for me and many others here in our battle against our weight.

Good luck with your goals

Hugs
Michelle

I'm new here too, but I just wanted to say that if you are too far for meetings, WW is pretty easy to follow at home.

I am in Montana and I'd have to drive a little ways for a meeting too -- plus the expense.

If you get the materials it is fairly simple to follow at home.

Good luck on your weight-loss journey!

Hey IAmom. I'm from Iowa too! Sounds like you came to the right place. There is so much support here. I don't know what I'd do without this forum. The more you visit here, the better you can feel about how to go about weight loss. First you need to figure out what kind of plan will work for you. I would check out lots of forums. I follow South Beach Diet and we have a very active group here. There's also WW online if you can't get to meetings. Good luck to you and I hope you find a successful plan!

I love calorie counting because I am the same. The minute you tell me I can't have something, I want it all the more

Calorie counting is flexible enough that NO foods are off plan. Many foods aren't particularly healthy, and must be eaten in moderation, but they can be part of the plan.

I love a quote from wndranne - "I figure I can eat (1) anything I want, (2) as often as I want, and (3) in whatever quantity I want. But I only get to pick two of these three if I want to manage my weight, and more importantly, my health."

Bottom line - you absolutely CAN do this. Really. And, you have found a GREAT source of support and help in 3FC.
