I came across this website looking for weight loss support forums, and wow! What an awesome community! I've browsed through several of the forums and I have to say, the success stories are SO incredibly motivating! It's really amazing to see what some of the members have accomplished and the hurdles they've overcome.
I'm an eighteen year old college freshman, currently attending a community college while saving up money to transfer to a university. I decided that instead of gaining the Freshman 15, I want to lose it - and hopefully more!
As a small child, I was taught somewhat poor eating habits... not tons of junk food, but I wasn't a stranger to McDonald's or potato chips, either. But I was active and only slightly chubby, and was never teased or worried about it. As a teenager, though, I've struggled with depression and frequent illnesses, and put on more and more weight. My self-esteem and body image plummeted and I eventually hit my highest weight of 218lbs this summer. I've felt for a long time like I'm trapped in a disgusting, weak body that isn't really mine.
I realized that I need to change my lifestyle. I want to be fit, active and healthy - and looking better wouldn't hurt things, either. I'm working on reforming everything in my life and becoming the person I want to be, physically, emotionally and mentally. I'm working on realizing that regardless of weight, I can be happy, confident and sexy - and that I deserve love and respect from myself no matter what I look like.
My goal is to lose around 75lbs over the next 9-12 months through healthy, sensible eating and physical activity. Rather than thinking of myself as on a diet, I want to change the way I eat for the rest of my life.
