Default Time for a change!

Hi everyone,

I'm a single gal living in New York City - I've yo-yo'd back and forth with my weight for years now, and I'm hoping that the support of this forum will help me out. I KNOW all of the right things to do to lose weight in a healthy way, but sometimes the pressures of living alone in a tiny studio apartment in such a fast-paced city have made it really difficult to stay focused. Every food place delivers, and that's just... easy. I live by myself, it's tough to cook (and do dishes!) in my tiny pre-war kitchen, and I lead a hectic lifestyle between my corporate job and a handful of other activities that often get me home past 10:00. I know I'm not about to become a master healthy chef - that's not realistic - but I'm hoping that making a series of small changes will eventually result in a nutrition overhaul.

Besides all of that...I used to be a dedicated dancer who was in perfect shape, and since I stopped dancing in college my body has changed drastically. I miss dancing! I want to look good again so that I can go to dance classes and feel confident about myself. It's hard to call yourself a "dancer" when you don't look like one anymore - that just makes me sad.

So...here's hoping! A gym membership is unfortunately too expensive in the city, but I have a Wii, just bought EA Sports Active, and am ready to start their 30 day plan. Here we go!

Thanks in advance for the support - I can't wait to help you guys out too. Let's all get healthy together!

Good luck! I'm a calorie counter and it seems to work well, as long as I eat enough. I'm not much of a cook, but I have tons of easy recipes I use. PM me sometime and I can send you a few to try.

Nice to have you here!

Hi and welcome!

Luckily for you, it doesn't take much cooking skill to make lean proteins and vegetables. And your exercise activities sound like fun too. Go to dance classes. You will not be the heaviest person there. Your weight does not define who you are.
