Default New, & looking for support

I have used this site before for recipes, and now I am looking for support from people that are trying to do the same thing I am. I don't feel like I have anybody to support me. I have decided to incorporate fruits and veggies in all my meals, and try to only eat healthy snacks. I know I will have to have a small dessert now and then, or I won't lose any weight, because I love sweets. My husband is over weight, and he needs to lose at least 50 lbs, but until he wants to, he never will. So, it is really hard trying to do this on my own. My family lives 13 hours away, so no support there. I am a size 10, but I would still like to lose 15-20 pounds to feel healthier, and fit into my clothes better. I also want to set a good example for my 6 and 10 yr old kids. I have started by ordering organic fruits and veggies that get delivered to my door. Anybody else out there doing this without their spouse helping?

Hi and welcome.

That is frustrating! But I'm sure you'll find support here. Come back every day and just read. That's encouraging. However, I encourage you to post and get to know folks.

Hi frustratedmom! This is a wonderful place for support! Jump in and start posting, and you'll see how everyone here wants you to succeed!

My husband also needs to lose weight. Like me, right now, he is in the "obese" range on the BMI chart. However, he's not ready to get started, and I know that's a personal thing. I can't make that decision for him. Even so, I am lucky that he is supporting me in my efforts. He never tries to tempt me (at least not on purpose), he doesn't mind that we grocery shop for two sets of foods (cookies, chips, and red meat for him; fresh fruits, fresh veggies, and fish for me), and he encourages me to exercise and to stick to healthy choices, even when we go out to eat. I know it's hard to see your husband eating things that you love also, but think about how good you feel (not just temporarily as with comfort foods) when you are at the weight at which you want to be! It just feels wonderful, doesn't it? Do it for yourself! Plus, you do want to set a good example for your kids! My suggestion is that you set mini-goals and that way you'll feel like the weight loss is manageable. Plus, you'll have more times to celebrate when you succeed! Good luck! You can do it!

BTW on this page, you'll find some wonderful challenges: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=159

Hi - I am new here too but I just wanted to say that this is the best place for support! I have only been here a few days but have already received advice when I asked a question and lots of other ideas just from reading other people's posts. It was really amazing for me to find out that there are all these other people out there with the same problems and feelings that I have. Just knowing that has helped me a lot in the past few days!

So dive right in!

Wanna

Hi,

I just wanted to say that i'm in a similar situation. I'm single with no kids, but I too have never had any support to lose weight. Sometimes it gets really hard, especially when i'm dating and getting taken out to restaurants etc and it can be frustrating trying to do something for yourself when your partner won't support you - i've been through my fair share of idiots now!

I think it is a personal choice to lose weight and it's fair enough if your husband is not ready to make that decision just yet, but you should still have support and i'm here to help if you want any advice or just a word of encouragement when you're feeling low.

We've all felt like we're struggling away at this by ourselves before, but that's what this site is here for. I'm trying to make as many buddies here as I can because i've never had the support before, and you should try the same. Get involved in all the forums and read the success stories for inspiration.

Get in touch if you need anything and I will be here to help

Here's to our success!
