Default Me Too! Me Too!

I'm new and here's the deal.

I used to weigh 250 lbs. I lost 65 lbs. and got down to 185 over the course of a year with simple diet and exercise. That was about a year and a half ago and for the past year and a half I've been bouncing around 190-200 (this morning I weighed 205 though! ). So I'm ready to finish this out and lose the rest of the weight!!! I'll just be counting my calories (hoping to keep them around 1500-1600) and trying to stick to mostly whole foods (meat, veggies, some fruit, some whole grains). As I've begun to pay more attention to getting healthy and focus a little less on just losing the weight I've been shocked and saddened by the amount of processing our "food" goes through. They take stuff out, they add stuff in and in the end it's not nearly as good for us as we think!

The diet is the easy part for me.....it's the exercise that I really can't seem to get a hold of! I used to exercise regularly (mostly hiking and then graduated to trail running) but I haven't exercised in months. But I've signed up for a 5K on May 17th and I'll be running it with my mother so hopefully that will provide a little motivation on those days when I'm just feeling so lazy!

Well that's me in a nutshell, I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hey Fox -

I also have really had my eyes opened thinking about the processing our food goes through...so much that I started a garden and get all my meat from a specialty butcher. If you haven't read them, you might really enjoy the books Michael Pollan has written (An Omnivores Dilemma and In Defense of Food) and Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver.

But I digress! You may want to visit our "Whole Foods Lifestyle" forum for further discussion, as well as any of our groups by age range, eating plan, etc. We have a great and active Calorie Counters forum to investigate, too.

Can't wait to get to know you better!
