Well the proverbial Diet Road that is.
Hi all,
I'm a 29 yr old data analyst from Western PA who has tried nearly every diet known to man.
The only one that I have ever truly been successful with was my own version of modified Atkins. Once I made it through the first month or two I actually liked it and didn't miss carbs all that much. I lost over 60 pounds until I got really sick and fell of the proverbial wagon and gained it all back plus 8-10 pounds depending on the day.
Since then I have tried going low carb time and again but everytime I only make it a few weeks.
My fiance and I just set our wedding date and I am truly ready to give this another shot and MAKE it work this time.
I just can't really decide what plan I should use. I want to use something that really is a healthy lifestyle change that I am going to be able to incorporate into my life and be able to use long term.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Calorie counting is free, easy.. you can do it for life.. and Have anything you want in moderation.
Hi, I also did Atkins and did really well on it. I also lost 60lbs went from 221-164 and man was I looking good. I gained 30lbs in the last 2 years, mainly this past year when I was studying for a big state Exam. I tried Atkins off and on again and it just doesn't seem to work as well as it did the first time.
I tried Calorie counting and I wasn't doing it right. I bought all the 100 calorie snacks thinking I would just eat one when I was hungry and didn't eat any real food. That only lasted a few days. I wasn't having anything that was nutrious or filling. My sister started counting calories and lost 5lbs in one week, so I figured I would try it again. She told me to write everything down to keep accountable for the calories I eat. This time I did not buy all of the snacks. I bought low calorie meals I can get the calorie counts right off of the package, and I will add some raw steamed Veggie to the side of and maybe a slice of double fiber bread. Today is one week calorie counting and I have lost 8lbs. I eat when i am hungry I have 3 meals a day and sometimes 3 snacks. I am fuller and my stomach doesn't require as much. On Atkins knowing I could eat as much as I wanted as long as it was legal. I would litterely stuff myself and feel miserable afterwards.
Good Luck on what you decide!
Thanks! I've been using fitday's online food journal on and off for a few weeks and I think that's just what I'm going to stick with.
I've finally gotten to the point that I just need to be patient and stick w/something because I've obviously taken most of my lifetime to get to this point so I can't expect it to all go away over night.
I had my yearly physical two weeks ago and my doctor is /slightly/ concerned that my blood pressure is a little high and they sent me for a bunch of blood work last week.
I came home to a message on the machine from their office so I'm hoping that they didn't discover anything major in the tests. Knowing me though I'll probably stay awake all night worrying about it.
I think my biggest problem has been and always will be that I don't really exercise. I just hate to sweat. But the bottom line is that if I want to get where I want to be I have to do what I need to do to get there. And no magic pill is going to give me the equivalent of daily sweaty exercise!
So I'm going to dust off my treadmill that doubles as a clothes hanger and continue to use my wii fit and just keep plodding along hoping that the numbers will drop.
