Welcome to the site, I'm sure everybody will have a bit of advice for you.... I just wanted to say though that I found it very difficult to read what you wrote because of the capping every word (but in all fairness my sight isn't doing too well either:P )
Beutiful Ace...sorry bout the caps. How did u get the weight loss scale on your profile? And i see you have lost a nice bit of weight. What did u do and how long has it taken for u?
Well, you have to get 20 posts and 20 days in before you can get a signature (the thing under my posts). It's a long wait and stuff but when you get it, you'll be happy as ****(or i was at least). It took me 11 weeks to lose 27 pounds. I did it by proper portions, NO junk food (like chips, chocolate, cake, ice cream etc). No fast food. Less bread (but not eliminated) and if I do have bread it's whole grain. I eat 3 meals and 3 healthy snacks. I am not sure how many calories because I don't count them. I exercised every day excluding about 4 weeks, 2 weeks due to asthmatic bronchitis and 2 weeks due to back injury (and that one is still around). I haven't been drinking nearly as much water as I should be, but I have definitely been drinking a lot more than I used to. I drink a lot more tea than I do coffee now. That's pretty much it.
Hey Cutebutthick hehe,
What worked for me, was I got tired wishing. I was tired wishing I could fit into that or go this place...and so forth. Im tired of wishing, so now I am doing. You have to be mentally prepared to lose weight or you will defeat yourself before you even start. You're already on the right track by being here, I'm new here as well, and I'm sure there tons of useful info floating around here. If you want some directions idk, i guess you can try drinking 8 glasses of water a day for starters...
I've lost 22 lbs by counting calories! it's basically the same type of plan that Ace is doing- but I monitor my cals.. (I bet if you added up your cals Ace you'd be in a healthy range lol:P)
calorie counting is basically about portion control and picking healthier options.. examples bread, rice, pasta, oats and grains, potatoes are fine to eat contrary to a lot of low carb diets instead pick whole wheat/ whole grain bread, or 45 calorie bread, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, oat meal, and sweet potatoes instead... these things are good for you! and your body needs them to have a balanced diet! of course the servings should be limited-
Making sure to eat 5 servings of fruit and veggies a day a long with drinking 8 glasses of water a day and doing exercises... it's sure to come off- and the healthy way! the way it will stay gone forever! I'd really suggest doing some research on calorie counting- check out www.thedailyplate.com or fitday.com or sparkpeople.com! I've lost 22 lbs in 7 weeks! and my husband has lost 24!
WOW 20 any kinda pounds in 7 weeks in inspirational!!!!Im impressed w/everyone who replied so far!Did u exersize at all.I have a tredmill in my bedroom and im soooo unmotivated that it just sits there.I love walking but really outside more than in the house(it gets boring)but it's waaaaay too cold to go outside.Do u do endless crunches or sit ups,my main issue is with my stomach after 4kids u can imagine

I know how you feel. I gained a lot of weight with my pregnancy, and hit a wall after the first 20 pounds just melted off. I didn't lose anymore weight for nine months. I finally was disgusted with myself when I noticed I was avoiding friends because I was embarrassed of how I looked in clothes.
Now I am healthier than I have ever been. I haven't weighed this much since I was in high school. I think the best ways to get started are:
1. Up your water intake and cut out regular soda or cut back on diet soda.
2. I started walking every day for 30 minutes. That turned into running four to five miles every day five to six days a week. When winter hit, I bought a gym membership and hit the gym four to five days a week to maintain for winter. The important thing is to GET MOVING!
3. I made sure I was eating a lot of fruit and vegetables. I take 30 minutes a couple times a week and devote it to raw food preparation. I always have fresh bell peppers, pineapple, apples, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, carrots, celery, and cucumbers on hand. Sometimes I have salads or just munch on them alone. I think the important thing is to bring something with you on the road so you are less tempted to hit the Mickey D's drive-thru. During the summer I always make sure I have energy bars for when I play softball. If I am in a hurry and miss a meal, I don't feel too guilty if I replace it with one of those and glass of water. It just helps wane my appetite.
4. I bought myself incentive jeans. Some may disagree with this practice, but I have two pairs of Gap jeans in my closet that I would have been able to fit into last summer and now I can't. I will in a few weeks though. It just helps me stay focused.
5. I think this is most important for getting started. Begin a food diary. I did WW at home, and never even attended a meeting. Keeping track of my points in my diary and a calculator close by, helped me get excited about figuring out ways I could eat more in volume and nutritional value and avoid my most common pitfalls -- pizza and sweets. I, of course, say this after I just got done eating a couple slices. I always allow myself treats once in a while. There is nothing wrong with a slice here and there; you just have to keep track and make it up elsewhere, like a nice chicken salad for dinner or something.
6. Take a before pic -- you will be glad you did. This really helped me see a difference. I also had something to post of this site's mini-goal section. I am hoping to reach my main goal this summer. I don't think ten more pounds will be too hard considering I lost 45 last summer.
Good luck to you. You can private message me or check out my blog, not that I have updated it in a while.
I exercised the first two weeks- and I haven't exercised for one single minute since..LOL only because of an injury though , as soon as it heals I will start exercising again . but the great part about just eating healthy in general is you will lose weight regardless if you exercise me and ACE are proof of that! I've lost 9lbs alone in the past two weeks not exercising! but eating correctly! I know I'd have lost even more if I could have exercised.. my advice is just start by making healthy eating choices.. focus on one thing at a time.. first decided what is one thing you can do for sure! can you give up soda? or bad snacky processed foods like candy and cookies ? can you makes sure you eat 5 servings of veggies a day? or have 5 servings of fruit? or drink8 glasses of water..? can you switch all the white foods (sugar, flour, bread, rice, potatoes, pasta) for whole grain versions?
or can you just walk for 15 mins on your treadmill a day?
It's all those little things that add up to one healthy lifestyle.. pick one or two that you can commit to doing.. do it faithfully for a few days and then add in a new one..
or if you can tackle more then one at once by all means do it! I threw myself into it... but there is still a lot I'm not ready to focus on yet like sodium intake, carb intake, fat grams. etc.. one day I'll add that in but for now I calorie count, drink water, and exercise when I can!
(and Ace 1800 cals is totally a healthy range see your calorie counting but you just didn't know it..LOL hahaha )
lol well I generally eat the same amount every day give or take so I did one typical day just to see where I was at. I am thinking about doing it daily, but I might start that when my progress starts to slow down. I am doing good where I'm at now so I don't see a point.
exactly! why fix it if it aint broken! when you slow down you'll definitely need to keep track probably so you can adjust how many calories your taking in a day that will help you not plateau then you can drop to 1600 cals..
hey cute!!!! single mom here too so we're friends right off the bat!!!
for me, when i knock out regular soft drinks, up my water intake and stop (or simply lower) my fast food intake I find that i will lose massive weight off the bat
