Default Nearly 30 and Not Happy!

Hi everyone! I found this forum while searching reviews for the Leg Magic. I am 29, and very unhappy with my weight. I have vowed to lose the weight before I turn 30. Right now I am at 215.4 lbs and want to be down to at least 150 lbs by my birthday at the end of November.

I've never been super skinny, but I've never been overly heavy either. My weight fluctuated between 140-160 lbs in college, and for the first few years of my career.

Over the past few years, I've yo-yoed quite a bit. I was down to a size ten (about 150-160 lbs) when I found out I was losing my job because of a corporate buy-out. I started eating all the time, and went from a 10 to a 12, then to a 14. By the time I had my last day at work a year later, I was in a 16, and up to 190 lbs. In the next few months, as I searched for a job, I gained another 30 lbs. EEK!

In October 20006, I got my ears stapled and stared bartending. I lost 40lbs in four months without exercise (except what I did behind the bar). I was feeling great and kept at it, but had reached a plateau. In March 2007, I was hospitalized with bacterial meningitis. It was very scary, and I was very lucky to survive. However, while I did lose more weight while in the hospital, I gained all of it back, plus the 40 lbs I had lost over the next year.

And here I am. I want to lose it and keep it off this time. I don't want to be 30 and overweight. The heavier I am, the more reclusive I become. I moved to a new area in July, and I still don't know that many people because I don't feel comfortable in my own skin. I'd love to make new friends and maybe even find a boyfriend during my weight loss journey.

Thanks for reading my rambling posts, and good luck in your weight loss ventures. I hope to get to know some of you over the next few months!

Welcome to the site! That's such a horrible thing to have to go through. But now that you're better, you can come post! There are forums based on age, specific eating plans, starting weight etc. the possibilities are seemingly endless. Hope to see you post more often!

Take care!

Hey Anmitche -

Yes, do investigate our different spots! We have forums by eating plan, by age range (the 20-somethings, for example), amount to lose, etc. So look around, find a spot or several, and settle in.

Can't wait to read more from you and get to know you better!

Hey Anmi,

I'm 27 and have about the same as you to lose, if you need a buddy gimme a msg, I started here about 3 weeks ago and it is soooo great, really motivating and entertaining (you never get that on your own do ya??) there is a great thread in the chicks up for a challenge section called loving the skin your in, come on over it's great, mini challenges and lots of banter...

Anyway I set my target weight at 150 by December, sooner would be great but to me thats a healthy 1lb per week, anything else is a bonus, + there isn't any dissapointment like you get when you say 50lbs off by May! anyway Hey and Welcome

Thanks for all the welcomes! I feel at home already. I'm very excited about this. I have a ton of "skinny" clothes that I kept and I can't wait to start fitting into them.

I too can't wait to get to know you all, and I would love a buddy or two!
