i'm new...looking for support and to make new friends

  • hey...my name is tanya...and i am new to all of this...i have set a goal of loosing 50 pds and it seems that i am alone...my family doesn't think i am "fat" and says no need to change because they love me for who i am, and i am grateful for that, but i want to feel better about myself and not worry about health problems, as i am getting older...i have been doing good on my own, but just being able to have someone that is going through the same things as i am would really make a difference...i hope to meet alot of new people and and find lasting friendships...
  • Hi Tanya

You've definitely come to the right place to find friends & support. We know what you're going through.

It's wonderful to have a family that loves you for who you are, but you have to take care of yourself.

There are sections around 3FC for those trying to lose a certain amount of weight, sections by age, or by interest, there are some challenges around, and there are areas under Diet Central for those looking to catch up with others following similar eating programs.

Take your time, look around & post wherever you feel comfortable. We all want eachother to succeed

    Best of success!!!
  • Tanya, As Faerie said, check out the challenge threads which are on almost every board, and chat threads. They are a great way to start getting to know some names and making friends here at 3FC. Hope to see you around the boards!
  • Welcome to 3FC!!
  • Welcome, Tanya!

    I hope you stick around
  • Howdy Tanya. First of all I am glad that you have a family that loves you unconditionally that makes things so much easier for you. This is a great place and I am certain that you will make some friends that will support you more than you realize.
  • Tanya!!

It is awesome that your family doesn't think you are fat and loves you for you (the way it should be), but as you said, you are doing this for yourself. You will feel so much better both emotionally and physically once you lose the weight.

Oh, 50 pounds was the amount I wanted to lose, too. You can do it! And once you've done it, you can say you lost a first or second grader

You will make plenty of lasting friendships and you will develop several bonds with people who you hardly know yet somehow feel close to. We are all in this together and we are eager to see each other succeed.
