Smile Here's to a healthy new year!

Hi. My name is Melodie and I am starting over... again... in my quest to get healthier. I have never been thin, but I have let my weight get out of control. I am currently 242 and I am seriously feeling the strain on my body from the extra weight. I have two beautiful girls and a great husband who are all vegetarian. I am not vegetarian, which causes difficulty when planning meals. I am starting my year by cutting out fast food which is my big downfall. I am also trying to curb my snacking.... I am a "boredom eater".

So... bring on the veggies.

Hi Melodie!

There are plenty of "never been thins" around the site. I'm one of them.

I like your plans so far. Cutting back on fast foods will certainly cut down on the calories. And adding in vegetables can help you feel fuller for longer, and keep your body filled up with the right amounts of fiber and nutrients!

You may want to start drinking water during the day (if you don't already) as that's something simple that can keep you hydrated and feeling full as well.

Take a look around, post wherever you're comfortable. And stick with it!

Hi Melodie,

Sounds like we have a couple of things in common, we are around the same in weight and we have the same weight loss goal.

I can relate to you with the boredom eating, it is habit I have been trying to stop, espically at night while watching tv! Maybe we can become buddies and support each other with this struggle.

Good luck and I hope to talk to you soon!

Hi, Melodie!

I'm trying to get my butt back in gear, too. Looks like we're starting from the same point and trying to get to the same point. I hope we can help each other.

Hi Eliuj,

Sounds like you, Melodie and I are in the same boat! We could all support each other, work together to get started back on the health track

Let me know what you think!

I think that's a great idea, Stacey.

I'm going to be calorie counting. I need to reset my idea of what 1800 calories looks like so I can do a slow, steady weight loss.

Eliuj, that is a good plan, no quick weight losses, not healthy! Sounds like a smart start! I am going to start at 1500, I got that from Trainer Bob's (from the Biggest Loser) book, that is what he suggested, and since I love Bob, I do what he says
