Talking New and determined

Hi,
I've never used a forum like this before and I'm hoping it will help me keep my eyes on the prize.

I'm an 18 year old college student and I'm hoping that my new freedom (because I'm so far away from home and my old lifestyle) won't make my situation worse. I'm terrified of the freshman 15, but I'm really determined to make it the freshman -45 .

I want to feel pretty and confident like all of the skinny petite girls up here, and I do my best to exercise and eat well. I have friends and such, but they are either at a good weight or could care less, therefore, I have to do this on my own. It's really hard when we eat together, because they always vote for fast food. (Even though most of those places offer healthy choices, they are never filling, which is dangerous for me.)

My major goal is to fit into a slinky little black dress without looking like I'm smuggling lard and bar soap, and to do a fast jog all the way from the gym to my dorm without stopping (1 mile).

Good luck to everyone else too ! It's gonna be so worth it!

ohhhh to be back in collage. How fun. Seriously - Have the time of your life. Be crazy and enjoy every min no mater how much you weigh!

On that note... I guarentee there are other girls on your campus who feel the same way. Start a walking group. Post info around campus. I guarentee you'll have a few people show up....when walking becomes easy, make it a jogging group....then running....

There is a jogging group ^_^ I'm actually in it right now, the girls there are really nice, but they are also really in shape. I don't really see too many big girls going to the rec center. It is really intimidating though. I hope I'll meet someone in the same situation, but for now the jogging is alright. I'm getting better.

hey, i'm an 18 year old college student too <33 I know exactly what you're going through. I just joined this less than an hour ago to get motivated and already I'm finding people just like me. I'm pretty much on my own in terms of support bc my friends are.. well... thin. and they dont really understand. I know i'll gain a lot more confidence from losing weight, i hope you do too

I've got the same problem except my non-thin friend is completely satisfied with her weight! (She gets alot of cute guys, i don't know how she does it!) It's hard not to get discouraged. But anyhow, we can be buddies and support each other!

Hi~ I'm 19 in my 2nd year of college and I can definitely relate! The jogging group sounds great. I can totally relate to not finding people on campus with weight-loss goals as well (except for those girls that are already thin).
Does your school have a gym? I love using the campus gym.. If you have one, you could always check for classes like yoga or belly dancing if you're more into group exercising.

My school does have a gym, and i'm enrolled in a Mind & Body Program where I can attend any of the Yoga or Pilates classes, depending on my mood.
