Default Hello Everyone!

Hi!

My name is Reese.. and don't really know where to begin...

I have been overweight my whole life... and I've tried EVERYTHING!!!!!

I have a personal trainer/nutritionist.. and I KNOW what I'm supposed to do.. it's the DOING that I have a really difficult time with.

I am desperately trying to join the Army.. and I can't join until I'm 159 or under.

The last time I weighed under 159 was 8 years ago.... So.. I need ALL THE HELP I CAN GET!!!

So far I've lost 10 pounds, and I have 20 more to join the Army, and 45 more to reach my goal weight.

I don't really know how to end this... So I'll just say.. any tips you can give on staying focused would be great!!

Thanks!

Hey Reese

Just know... you can do this. You can and you are.

The doing is the hard part. And unfortunately, there's no magic wand of motivation... no actual will power dust... no special phrase that makes us want to get up and get going with being healthier every single day.

We do the best we can... and we plan. Each week I buy healthy foods for the week. Each morning I plan what I'm going to eat. That way, during the day I don't have to constantly think about food. It's already planned.

You want to join the Army. My brother is in the Army. That's some vigorous exercising right there... and you want to be in the best shape you can be before joining. You may want to think of it as training for Army training. How great will it be when you get to the Army and can keep up? It's only going to happen if you keep going to your personal trainer, and keep eating right.

You can do this! Look around the boards, post where you're comfortable.

Best of success!

Hi Reese! My son recently joined the military...he had been overweight most of his adult life and had to really work to slim down a bit to even get in, but WOW. After he joined the weight fell off of him. Not much choice in basic training! Now he gets up and runs before reporting for duty every day, which is really a change from his teen/early adult years. He says he'll never be heavy again.

Maybe the military could make money off their diet plan and sell it. I should hire a drill sargeant

Haha! Thank you all for your welcomes..

I guess the only thing that drives me crazy is that I AM physically capable! If you're overweight but not TOO overweight.. they make you do a physical test to join and it's a 12 inch step that you go up and down for 5 minutes at a fast tempo.. I can do that.. I can run a mile in 8 min and 15 seconds.. I can do 25 situps in a minute and 5 pushups in a minute... the requirements for females in my age group was actually a mile in 10 min and 30 seconds, 17 situps and 3 pushups...

I mean.. I'm going to lose the weight when I get there... what's the big deal?! haha

And also... That's a really good idea with planning your day of food when you wake up.. That's my biggest obstacle. I know what and how much to eat... but I don't do it! I always just grab something when I'm hungry and normally it's quick and unhealthy.. I think having an idea of what I want to eat for the day will be good for me to try.
