Hello this is my first post. Please keep reading because the title was meant to be more of an eye catcher. Let me start out by giving you my story.
I am a 23 year old male and weight 135-140lbs but I haven't always been like this. My senior year of high school I weighed 225lbs and finally decided to do something about my weight problem. Within 4 months I lost 70lbs before my graduation. I did the wrong thing and stopped eating lunches and worked out 5 days a week for 1+ hour. After I meet my goal I made some serious changes by eating again, but more sensibly, and cut my workout to 4 days a week for 30 minutes.
In the last 5 years, even in college, I have managed to keep the weight off but I am always obsessed with what I eat and what the scale says. This obsession has made me feel even worse than when I was overweight. It finally hit a pinnacle this year when I started weighing myself 5+ times a day and counting every single calorie I eat. I would get worried when in the morning the number was up 2lbs and because of this I would eat very small lunch.
Well I've finally made the decision and I am going to give up. I am going to give up my obsession with the scale. I was away on vacation for 5 days and could not weight myself and eat more freely. When I got back I decided to not look at the scale right away because I knew it would be high right after vacation. What I've noticed is that I feel much happier now and I’ve only weighed myself twice in the last 9 days.
So here is my goal, I am going to cut down to looking at the scale only once a week until November and then I am going to go "cold turkey" and only weigh once a month. I am going to go by how I feel and how my close fit, which is more important than some stupid number.
Wish my luck guys and good luck to everyone else.
PS I will be visiting and posted a lot in the forum.

I know a lot of people that are ruled by the scale, and I suffer from scale mentality occasionally too. I just have to remember that the scale is a tool, nothing else.
Just out of curiosity, what is your typical caloric intake for the day, and what do you usually eat? And what kind of exercise do you do during the week? If you're eating healthy and have a consistent workout routine, you're already doing well in the game.
My calorie intake is a bit erratic but I'm trying to get it more stable. I try to eat between between 2000 and 2500. It usally ends up being a little over 1700 or around 3000. My work out consists of 20 minutes on the treadmill and 10 minutes on the bike 4 times a week.
New here. I've done it all - WW, SB, Atkins...Glucophage, Bariatric Surgery...I'm back to counting calories and trying to get my head on anything besides food. I joined Overeater's Anonymous in May of 2005 and since then have lost 110. Still obsessing but lif is much better. Here's to my last 75 lbs. *Clink*
