I am a student at the Art Institute of Seattle, well actually, not for long. I am graduating with my BFA in Graphic Design in 3 weeks! I am ready for the real world, and that means facing the weight.
I was the MVP on my high school volleyball team, and was planning on playing at the college level when I had a series of injuries. I had 2 stress fractures in my lower back and had a chronic dislocating knee which had to be surgically repaired by breaking one of my bones and using screws to put it back in place. After this my body was never the same, I continued eating like I was a full time athlete and gained 50 pounds over the past 4 years.
My body is now healed from all of the injuries, but I am left with all kinds of baggage. For me it isn't even about the weight, ok maybe it is a little, but mostly it is about being athletic. I miss being in great shape and competing in sports. Even if it is thanksgiving football with my guy friends.
So those are my goals 50 pounds and athleticism! I am super excited just to be on the right path.
I have started weight watchers and have also started working out with a trainer twice a week, and once on my own.
Did I mention I am engaged! July 18th 2009 is the big day and of course I would love to complete my goals or be close to them by then.
Baby beluga, You can totally complete your goal in a year! I've lost 40 pounds in about five months and gained back my energy and strength. I gained my weight from my baby, but had put on 15 pounds steadily since high school, ten years ago, that I am now working on losing since I've lost all my baby weight. My main goal is 138 or 135.
Congratulations on getting engaged! Are you going to be on any certain diet? I've done WW, which I absolutely love; it's perfect for my lifestyle and I didn't have to give up any of my favorite foods, like pizza or sweets. I have cut down on them, however. I tried two low-carb diets before, and I just don't have the willpower to stay on those for more than a week.
You've got so many exciting things happening; a healthy lifestyle change is just going to make them that much more enjoyable for you!
