Default Starting Young!

Good for you for controlling your weight with the first 10 pounds, rather than 80 pounds later. It is easier to stay slim than to lose weight, I think. I did it for so many years. I wish I had made it through the childbearing years with the good habits of my youth...I would not be here today!

I am a teacher, too. Don't you find the job incredibly stressful? I am an emotional eater and after a bad day at work it is very hard for me to control my eating. I am so busy during the day that it is not a problem, but at night I overeat. Your pattern sounds like mine.

I am going to walk away from dinner and exercise I think to get me through the evenings. The guys can put dinner away and do the dishes!

I am still trying and Tanya7768,

Welcome to 3FC! This place is for everybody who wants to lose some weight and become a more fit person. It does not matter if it's 10 or 40 pounds - you can do it and this place is so much fun. Take a look around, pick some forums that seem a good match for you and start posting.

Again, welcome.

Default New to all of this

Hi Everyone,

I am new to all of this. I have never participated in a forum and I just finished my first week on the SBD. I did not weigh myself before I started because I just couldn't face the scale. I would imagine I was somewhere between 180-190 and I am only 5 feet tall. My main concern was to get my clothes to fit better and work on getting my blood pressure under control. The scale absolutely scares me and I just didn't want it to influence what I was doing. I had a great week and I am going to try the "fried zucchini" recipe I just found. I hope having the support of others will be an incentive.

Good for you! I wish I would have made the choice of living a healthier lifestyle when I had 10 lbs. to lose versus 80. I am also a teacher, and this summer has been a killer for me. I cannot stop eating. I feel like I graze all day. I'm hoping the structure of work will help. Good luck to you.

I am
We are not here to judge. We are ALL here because for one reason or another we have extra weight on us and want to be healthy. I think it is great you don't seem to have any medical reasons for the weight gain. You know you are eating to much and that is the cause. I also think it is great you want to do something about it now instead of later. Congrats on a healthy way of thinking. A plan is a good thing. Think about what you should be eating. Do you want to do the calorie counting four basic food group way or do you want to use a set plan like Jenny Craig. There are so many ways to lose weight and keep it off and one of them is right for you.

Tanya

Welcome. Hope you find all the help and encouragement you need.

I understand not wanting to get on that scale the first time. When the doc told me the meads were pretty much out of my system and I could TRY to lose the weight I was ready. I sure wasn't ready to find out exactly what I was up to. The effort is well worth the time and dedication it takes to be a more healthy thinner person.

I have time to eat right because I don't have time to be over weight

I have time to exercise because I don't have time to be out of shape

Quix: I find that my habits for bot heating and exercising are WAY better during the school year. I have set times when I eat and set times for the gym. In the summer when we're off my rountines go haywire! Every year I seem to go up in weight a little in the summer but usually not this much. I am working on it.

Shy Moment: You know, I am thinking of a plan like Nurisystem or something. I think that portion control for me is key. I graze all day long. Are you on a plan, what do you think? Woiuld a plan like NS benefit someone with 10-15 pounds to loose?

I am
I am on the " Rennie Plan " and for the low price of JUST 19.95 you too can have my plan lolol. I would make great tv adds wouldn't I hehehe.

I eat the required amounts of the four basic food groups each day. I stay within some general ranges of calories, fats and carbs and I exercise each week day. Thats about it.

I think if portion control is your problem any set plan will help you. A set plan is just that. It gives you set portions and with this you can learn what your portions should be. I think all of us forgot how much we should be eating. Once we got portion control back in line we were all on our way to a more healthy eating style.
