Question Overweight and overwelmed

Hey everyone -

This site seems really supportive and productive - just digging through the goal posts (not a football reference ) alone was inspiring!

I'm 32, and am about 40 pounds overweight, i think. I was in far better shape a year ago, when i used to do roller derby, but i've gained about 20 since i quit (i was injured and had to retire). I still walk nearly every day and get to the gym when i can, but my eating is totally a free-for-all.

I have no idea where to start, diet-wise. I've done WW before in college, and it worked (until i gained it all back. Heh!), but I don't really know if I want to do it again, for money and time issues (meetings are hard to get to for me). I thought of just following the WW plan on my own, but don't know how realistic that is.

Any advice would be helpful - i find the starting point so intimidating for some reason!

Ive just started a diet though I have a huge amount of weight to loose.

Do you think you would be able to calorie count or do you need some sort of programme like ww to follow?

Knitta, so glad you came here! That first step is a doozy, but hey we all have to start somewhere, right? It sounds like you need to do some research on what kind of plan will work for you, this is the best place for that, use us often! (Rollerderby?! You chicks really know how to rock it!) Keep that hard core attitude and you'll do great!
