I'm a 21 year old Canadian female who's sick and tired of being obese, and I'm hoping with enough support and motivation, I'll be able to reach my long-term goal of 115 pounds. Just for the record, I'm 5'3.
I moved away for college from Alberta to Ontario last August, and came to Ontario weighing 185 pounds. Unfortunately, the freshman 15 myth turned out to be more than a reality for me, and I now weigh 215 pounds, despite my efforts to diet and attend the gym on a regular basis. This is the heaviest I've ever been, and it's starting to take a toll on my self-image and self-esteem.
Anyways, I hope to meet lots of new people here and make plenty of friends on my road to losing weight and becoming healthy and beautiful

Reason: spell check
I'm with you! I'm a 19 year old guy from PA(USA). So far I have lost 68 pounds, and you just need to make A LOT of small goals for yourself. Keep your ultimate end goal in mind, but split it up into a lot of smaller goals, like try to lose 10 to 15 pounds in a month. The hardest part is the beginning, the first couple pounds don't come easy, but after that you just seem to get into a "Zone", just make sure you keep your goals in mind. I'm reading a book "burn the fat, feed the muscle", and the author states that you should write down your short and long term goals everyday, and it really helps!
I have 32 pounds of fat to lose, in the process I'm trying not to lose muscle mass and I want to start building muscle after I get lean.
I wish the best of luck to you, stay strong, keep your goals in mind, you have to have the mindset to change yourself or no diet or exercise program is ever going to work

Hi Static! I'm new also, and I noticed that our stats are almost exact.
My starting weight is 213, I am 5"1 and I want to get to 125. It seems overwhelming, no?
I am lots older than you (46) and I can tell you that years of added weight have caused foot and leg pain, back and hip pain, digestive problems . . . you name it. Better to get a handle on it now when you are young.
Hi STATIC . . . from another Canadian . . . one old enough to be your grandmother, of course. . . . You've come to the right place, Chicklet. You'll find lots of support around this place.
Get the weight off now, and work on keeping it off! Irish and I are the same age, and we both know it's a bugger to get off later in life. Do it while your metabolism is still in high gear.
Please keep posting... there's lots of great support here.

Just wanted to welcome you to 3FC!!!! and wish you the best of luck!
Hi Static! I just signed on myself, but want to wish you all the best on your journey. And I echo what Spoz said -- you are beautiful just as you are! But I know how the pounds "eat away" at one's self esteem! I have about the same stats, goal as you and we can do this!
