Default Another Newbie.

Hello!

Umm, I'm not entirely sure what all entails an introductory post for this forum, but here I go anyway...

My name is Elisa, and I am 19 years old (20 in August!). I have been overweight since I was a little kid, but I'm definitely at my heaviest right now. I find it to be embarrassing, especially since I have lost a significant amount of weight in the past. What's pushing me forward right now is the desire to fit into some dresses that belonged to my mother when she was in college. They are beautiful, and I would love to wear them. I hope to finally lose this weight and keep. it. off. I have started by doing yoga almost daily and running/jogging on a treadmill for 30 minutes about twice a week. I plan to eventually be doing it at least 3 times a week, but I keep sleeping in on Fridays. Bad Elisa! Anyways, I am also trying my hardest to stop eating things that are bad for me. I gave up fast food and sodas for Lent, and hopefully the trend will continue well after Easter.

I read around on these forums before signing up. I think I'll like it here because it seems to be the most positive weight-loss forum I've come across. I don't have many friends in town that can help me and support me (most of my friends live about 2.5 hours away), and my boyfriend doesn't exactly help since he is one of those people that can eat an entire container of sugar cookies and somehow LOSE weight because of it. Don't get me wrong, he supports me in all I do, it's just hard when I see him absentmindedly scarfing down my favorite junk foods and I know he won't gain even the slightest bit of fat. Anyway, I hope this forum will provide an excellent source of support for me.

Some other information about me...
I'm a Psychology major at the University of Texas in San Antonio. I hope someday to get my doctorate from UT of Austin (yay Longhorns!). I love love love cephalopods (octopi, squid, cuttlefish, etc). I just think they're so adorable! I have started a webcomic this year (2008 is the year of endeavours for Elisa...), and I'm proud to say that I have kept up with it thus far. I really like the Fine Arts. All of them. Also I like smileys, rainbows, hearts, flowers, and other stuff like that. But I could totally kick a boy's butt on Xbox.

That's about it, I suppose!! Again, I look forward to being a part of this community.

Hey Cephalopod -

You're right that this is a great, supportive place for those losing weight, and we're really glad you've found us! Giving up fast food and soda is a GREAT place to start, and so is regular exercise. You're making great steps toward being smaller, but more importantly, HEALTHIER!

Jump on in and post wherever you feel comfortable. Have you found our 20-somethings forum yet? You may want to pay a visit.

Wherever you post, jump in, keep posting, and keep moving forward. Can't wait to see more posts from you in the future.
