Default Help me

Hello to everyone & my name is Annie.

I'm 140 pounds overweight and need help! I'm hoping you all will help me as I hope I can help you. I've decided on a low fat, light exercise, drinking a lot of liquids (mostly water) life. I have succeeded a few years ago when something happened (bad knee + arthritis) and things went downhill. I'm here asking for help and pray I get to know all of you.

hey annie. im jas. We're all in the same boat as you,please don't forget. I just recelty learned that in order to commit to a healthy lifestyle and losing weight, you MUST love yourself. That's who you're doing this for right? Would you do something big for someone you do not love? I'm 258 and I'm going to be 160 one day. I was depressed for a long time, in and out of the psyche ward, and diagnosed with a mental disease. I used to hate my body so much, that I would cry when I seen myself in the mirror. Through a lot of support I have learned to love myself and see my beauties. Everyong has beauties. You deserve to look and feel the way you want to feel. Don't be your own enemy.
I've been given advice from these great people on this site, so I'm going to share them with you. PLAN PLAN PLAN! plan your meals ahead of time and your exercise. SET GOALS! KEEP A JOURNAL! I used to not see any of the significance of these advice, but they work so well. Also, if you lose motivation, read the weight loss success stories. Don't think I can try to lose weight. Say I WILL lose weight. You CAN commit yourself to this. Trust me, I know how you are feeling. I was so desperate I even tried starving myself(BAD IDEA). Also, losing weight takes patience. Many people starve and do unhealthy things because they don't have patience. I don;tknow the saying, but I know there is one like good things take time or something. If you don't feel like exercising, visualize yourself. I couldn't do it well until actual;ly last night, I could really see myself thin! Throw away the excuses. Just do it. You can.

Hi, Annie! Welcome! I'm new too, but let me tell you-- from what I've seen so far, everyone here feeds off of everyone else's good vibes. Having a support system rocks. You have accomplished the initial step of reaching out.

As far as losing weight, everyone is different, we all just need to find what works for us. Me, personally, I'm not huge into exercise, so what I did to jump start my weight loss (I'm not even close to my goal yet, but any progress is better than none at all) was to cut calories and do LIGHT exercises. Calorie cutting was difficult because I LOVE food (especially starches and sweets), but keeping my goal in mind helped, and documenting everything was great, because it helped me keep things in perspective. As far as exercising, I was only doing about 30 minutes a night. I've since REALLY cut back on working out, but want to start up again... just need to get motivated. I still cut calories, but not as much, because I want to slow my weight loss (if I lose too much too fast, it's not healthy). As far as exercising, I just do little things now, to get me prepped for getting back into it... at work, I haven't taken the elevator in WEEKS. I ONLY take the stairs now, which isn't TOO rough, because I work on the second floor (but doing it in heels is no fun at all). The little stuff adds up.

Anywho, I hope that helped at least a little. Like I said, everyone is different, so who knows. The important thing is to remember that you need to find what's right for YOU, and what's HEALTHY. Don't get discouraged or put yourself at risk

Hi Annie,
I just wanted to welcome you here to this wonderful site. I, too, have a lot of weight to lose. Sometimes it can get pretty overwhelming for me to look at the fact that I am 266 and I want to get to 150 or so. So, instead of looking at the big number I want to drop, I am setting little goals for myself. It is easier to do that and keep my eye on that goal instead of the big number. Like, for my first goal, when I make it to 250 I am going to get my hair permed (I want a spiral so bad) and also when I hit 250 I told myself I can ride my horse!! That is something I want so bad and I know I will get there. It might take me some time, but I will do it and in the process I am learning better eating habits.
So, don't look at the number you have to lose, just pick a small number and plan a reward for yourself.
To help me, too, I had my girls help me and one made a picture of me with a spiral perm, and one of my girls drew me on my horse and I put them on the fridge. Then my other daughter made me "sticks of butter" to put on the fridge and for every pound I drop I get to take off a stick of butter and toss it in the garbage!! It does help even if it sounds goofy!! LOL

Well, enjoy your time you come here and I know you will get encouraged and support.
