Unhappy Help! Stuck in a Slump

Hi there,

Please somebody help me find a reason to PUT DOWN THE DO-NUT!

I am suffering a really depressing slump the last five weeks. I was toodling along, hit my WW goal, became a lifetime member, then finally went on the vacation I'd been working to look good for....and then SLUMP! My motivation got knocked out of me, just like in 4th grade when Doug kicked that soccer ball square into my newly formed chest. UGH!!!

Seriously, I ate and drank like a mad woman on vacation, and now I'm dealing with the 7 pounds I've gained, and I can't even go back to WW because I'm not in my goal weight range anymore, and besides, my kids act up like banshees, so I can't stay at the meetings past weigh-in. And the scary part is, I am eating potato chips as I write this!!!!!

Can somebody help me find another reason to continue this weight loss/ fitness journey the right way????? I cannot stomach the thought of continuing this loss of control.

to 3FC!

You've got to figure out why you are overeating. Is it really because of pent-up hunger? Was it "just" letting loose on vacation, and you overdid it so much that you can't get back on plan? Or is there something else going on your life that's causing you to turn to the comfort of food?

You'll find a lot of tips on these boards about keeping motivated, and also support from community members. However, although 3FC folks can tell you to put down the doughnut ("PUT DOWN THE DOUGHNUT!") as much as you want, fundamentally motivation comes from within. Until you figure out why you're sabotaging your hard work and your health, your junk food binges are likely to continue.

Just my opinion, of course. Kim

Kim-
Thanks for your words of wisdom. I am not sure why I am sabotaging my months of effort to lose this weight. I need to think about that.

As for internal motivation, I think that is what I am struggling for now. Since Jan., I had this July vacation to work for. And now that the vacation is over, I feel like I need a new goal, but I can't think of one that really gets me going (like your 16 by 40). That is where I hope this website can help me, just to hear from others who are making it day to day, and making it stick.
