Default Looked in the mirror today...

And couldn't believe my size...got on the scales and realized that I have been so caught up in my life, career, children, and grandchildren that I have lost myself to food. I have gained 40 lbs in the last 3 years and have a son that is also very overweight for his age. I know it is time to help change the future for both of us.

I was thrilled to find a site that would let me share my challenges...some of my self without having to pay. Thank you for being here!!

Ok..I have stocked the fridge with healthy food...done some mental preperation and am intelligent to know what I need to do (even pulled out the dreaded treadmill) but past attempts have not been successful..Maybe I wasn't really ready...I am not sure.

I have the tools to do weight watchers, but find the point calculation model to be intensive at times, so I am going to count calories and try and consume limited white food products as I know they slow me down.

I thought I would try this site a day at a time and read of others successes and challenges and draw strength from them. Any suggestion for beginners would be appreciated. Also ..not sure which forum I should be at for a 35lb goal??

Thanks for reading ...V~

Welcome, V!!! I think it's great that you want to help yourself and your son. There is a lot of great information about more plans than you knew existed here, but I think the best thing to focus on is what sounds tasty and doable to you. Because if you and your son don't like the foods on the plan or the structure (or lack of), you'll never stick with it for the long haul. And the long haul is much more important than the short term!

My suggestion is to read a lot and post often. All of the threads and forums are so helpful, just find one that feels right and jump on in. You'll be welcomed with open arms.

Default Thanks Missie and C.C.!! AND question?

The 1st night went pretty well: Just popcorn YEAH..quite a change from previous evenings. I will come often as I know that will help provide the most support!! Do either of you know the best forum for me...

Single Mom -48 years old with 30-35 lbs to lose??

The faith based forum looked nice, but if there is a better forum that provides support for weight loss around 50lbs would that be better??

Let me know your thoughts..

Thanks and thank you all for being here!!!

All the forums are good, and you don't need to stick to just one of them! Like CC said, after you read a bit you'll find one (or a couple!) that just feel right and you will have found your home! Don't forget to check out the NSV threads, they are very motivational! Good luck!
