Default Greetings! :)

Hey,

I am new to these forums, as you know. I was searching on google for weight loss tips, valuable weight loss resources and helpful dieting sources, such as discussion boards (forums) where I could talk to fellow people who want to lose weight, give support and hopefully recieve it.

About me:

My life has been dramatic to say the least, it's been hard and lonely (hense the name). I have found my self coming across food as a sort of comforting resource. Unfortunely, as my life slowly gets better, the excess fat that I have put on while on the journey is still here, and I, well, absolutely HATE IT!! It seems to get in the way of everything I do. I don't find it easy to go outside and socialise with other people. I mean it's hard enough as it is with the depression, paranoia, panic attacks and anxiety I get, without being overweight. I find that being overweight is one of the most important factors of my life, it has damaged my confidence, self-esteem and my overall self image. When I was much younger I never used to think being fat was that bad, I never really used to be bothered about my weight, probably because I managed to keep it off for so long. But as I have always said, experience is the biggest teacher, and now I know what it's like, completely opposite to what I thought.

I weigh about 13-14 stone (185 poundish) and it seems to be increasing day by day. I do not want to put on more weight; my skin will stretch and my self confidence will plummet. I have tried a few diets and none seemed to have worked, I either give up because of lack of support or nothing goes. So, as I said above, I stumbled across this site. I find that in such a nice community as this, dieting will be a whole lot easier!

Thanks!

Lonely, welcome to 3FC! You will find many friends and much support on this board.....there is always someone here!

Remember that when you diet, you look at it (even subconsciously) as a temporary thing....I'll diet until I lose xxx pounds, then everything will be fine, etc. Don't do that to yourself! Don't diet, make lifestyle changes. Changes that you can live with for the long haul! Also, dieting implies that there are things you "can't" have or that are restricted. Again, will this work for you for the rest of your life? Probably not. Lifestyle changes don't restrict what you're eating...you learn to make better choices and have better portion control.

Anyway, I'll hop down off my soapbox and say again, WELCOME!

Thanks for the welcome, it's apprciated. Of course I will have to obey the diet rules for the rest, or for most of my life. There's hardly any point starting a diet, losing xxx pounds and then going back to eating the crap. Anyway cheers!

Glad you've joined us luv. This is a great place for motivation, lots of really nice people and many are very experienced at weightloss. Try to check in at least once a day to keep your motivation going. Check out the support and calorie counters forums, my personal favorites. Also, I believe there is a depression forum so that may be of help to you. Feeling worthless is not helpful. You are worthy whether you are slim or large! To get yourself on track, read lots of posts to find out the best way to lose weight (to me that's calorie counting healthy natural foods and exercising regularly). Also, I hope you are working with a professional regarding some of your mental health issues, which sound serious. We look forward to hearing more from you in the forums!
