Smile Hello from Iowa.. looking for buddies!!

Hello, my name is Lori and as you know from the title I live in Iowa. I am a stay at home mom to 3 girls ages 8, 4, & 2. I am joining Weight Watchers this week and it is my goal to lose about 88 lbs this year. I have tried before in the past , but for whatever reason I could not keep myself going. I have lost about 30 lbs before ( that was about 12 years ago) so I know that I can do it. This time I am especially motivated since I have done so well in college. I know that it sounds stupid, but I figure if I can go back at age 33 have a 4.0 average manage my house 3 kids and a some what demanding husband all some what successfully there is no reason why I am failing in this part of my life. I hope to find others like me to help me along the way. God bless.......

As a mom of 6 -- 4 of whom have flown the coop -- and a 4th grade teacher -- and, and, and -- I'd say you are quite a success in everything! I'm new to 3FC, too. By the way -- what part of Iowa? We lived in Muscatine for a couple of years in the late 70's. Wishing you much success!

Hello Mommapossum,
Where do you live in Iowa? I lived out there for almost 4 years and now I'm back in Maryland. I know what you are going through. I lost about 50 pounds 5 years ago with the help of Weight Watchers. I had no support of my then husband or family. I had done it all by myself and was very proud. I went through a few life changing events over the last 5 years and ended up gaining the weight back again.

Today was another turning point in my life. I went to an Aquacise class. It was great. I have a bad back and knees so could never do much exercise. I am going to loose this weight again with the help of support groups and exercise.

Good Luck and I'm here for you if whenever you need to bend an ear.

Hi MP!

I am also new hear and can completely relate to your situation. I have three kids (16, 13, 10) and my middle child is autistic. I also went back to college about four years ago -- at the ripe old age of 42 --to finish my BS in Bus. Admin. It took tons of time and energy but I finished two years ago w/a 3.72 gpa (can you say magna cum laude! . At the time I also managed to lose about 18 lbs. by exercising and watching (sort of) what I ate. Mostly exercised an awful lot. Unfortunately things change and I gained it all back I was/am home w/my kids full time and work pt (very pt). Happy that you're here and hope we can all shake the fat right out of our tukis!!

Thanks fot the welcome!!! For Barbara & md2ia2md I live in Davenport Iowa. It is right along the Mississippi River. I grew up in Muscatine Ia. It is such a small world!!!! I like living in Iowa. I know others may make fun of being in Iowa, but for me & my family we are quite happy here. My husband grew up everywhere with the last place he lived the longest being in the Chicago suburbs and he tells me all the time that he would never go back and is such a University of Iowa fan that I think that if you cut him he would bleed black and gold. Anyway enough about that.... I am looking to see what time the WW meeting around here are. I know that for me at least that this plan works.

I lived in Council Bluffs Iowa and worked at Nebraska Furniture Mart for about a year and a half before moving back to Maryland, which is where I am from. Iowa is a wonderful place to live. I made some very good friends while I was there. Good Luck with WW, I am trying to decide when I want to go back to meetings again. When I lost my weight before I worked for WW for about 3 years. I did start with an exercise class last night and I really want to continue to do that. Good Luck to ALL!!!
