Hi All!
I'm here for a mini-reboot. I'll do P1 for a few weeks, then go on my final trip of the summer before I settle into the school year and a solid P1 to get this added weight off. Sigh. I've been off the rails for a few months. It's been fine as I feel I chose to do that. I traveled out of the country and also around the US and chose to go off my plan and just relax for these trips. But now I need to take care of business and get the excess 20 pounds off that found me once again. I know a 2-week stint on P1 is not a great idea, as going in and out of ketosis is probably not the best thing, but I actually feel good on P1. I feel in control and clear, so on I am! Yesterday was day 1, so I'm a day behind you, Jennie! I feel fine and was not too hungry yesterday. Just put an order into Nashua and I have plenty of OP food in my cupboard. So, I just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone! I'm an "oldie" on this forum. I originally lost 80 pounds from June 2012-March 2013. I'm happy to say that I never gained it all back, although I've gained and lost half of it a few times. I've adjusted my goal to be a little higher than it was originally. I'm happy with 135 these days. And I've gotten into a routine in which I do P1 during the school semesters (August-November and January-April) and relax during the summers and holidays. If my relaxing is not crazy-eating, then I'm fine and it's all manageable. If it's crazy-eating, then it's more difficult to lose it again. Anyway, hi to all! And best of luck! We can do this! |

Back again - tried rebooting a few times since 2014 but couldn"t make the plan stick. Taking care of my ex-husband 24/7 who is now bedridden, can't feed himself, blind and seizures . Stress no better for me, but my BP shot way up along with the 90lb wt gain. It was the hi BP that was the wake up call for me. Finishing up my 4th wk on the old Ph 1. Since time is limited on my PC..what boards would you suggest? I didn't see the 100%OP . . Thanks! |

I like to visit the what are you eating today ipeeps thread. Keeps me on track and I feel more accountable. The recipe thread is good, too. I know there are so many threads it is hard to trim it down to just a few. I was overwelmed when I first started visiting here! Not many are very active so that might make it more difficult to find a "group" to join up with. Hopefully things will get back to a little closer to what it was back in the day. Facebook has really done a number on a lot of my chat boards I used to visit regularly. I joined a few of them but there is so much drama on FB, I just can't deal with it. Not my circus, not my monkeys, you know? 3FC feels more like home. |
Hi cscape!
I prefer 3fc to the FB groups, also, Frawnie. I think it's more private. I have enough happening on FB to do this also. I like having this place to hang out and I'll be around at least once a day. Have a great day, everyone! I'm on day 3 and feeling good. Losing that water! |
Hi Rebooters! How is everyone doing today? I am on Day 5 and through the worst of it, which wasn't actually bad this time around. I am going to share with you the reason why I think I made it through the 1st (3) days without any symptoms, cravings or hunger. I just want to preface that I suspect this worked for me, and am by no means a doctor, an IP coach or anything of the like. Just simply a seasoned IP'er whose has been around for a while.
One of the things that I like to do in my free time is read and review books for publishers. I belong to a couple of websites that allow you to request advanced copies of books in exchange for a review. I recently read a book called Eat Fat, Get Fit. While it wasn't much different than other books I have read that tout higher fat diets, it did highlight some Amino Acid's that I wasn't aware of. The first one is DL-Phenylalanine or DLPA for short. DLPA helps manage stress and promotes calmness, but the feature that attracted me most to DLPA was it's appetite suppressant qualities. The origin of this comes from The Mood Cure. In TMC, it is discussed that cravings originate in the brain and processed foods send false signals to the brain to create those cravings (hence why the more sugar you eat, the more you crave it!). Anyway, DLPA has been shown to mitigate cravings. After I read this, knowing that I was going to start P1, I had to get some. While I can't speak to the science, I can tell you that I fully believe that taking DLPA worked for me. For the first time ever, I have not experienced "keto flu", nor have I been hungry- like at all, and have had absolutely no cravings or thoughts of food- period. Seriously, transitioning into P1 and ketosis has always been really rough for me. I dream about food, I am always so, so hungry, get terrible headaches until I am fully into ketosis. Not this time. And even now being on Day 5, I feel great and it was the easiest transition I have ever had on P1. The other amino acid that the book recommended is L-Tryptophan, which you may recall that people say is why turkey makes you sleepy. As with DLPA, tryptophan also helps combat anxiety and depression, but it is also helps mitigate carbohydrate cravings. When I started researching tryptophan, I noticed a lot of people said that they took it at night and it helped them get a great nights sleep. So the first few times, I tried this, but it seemed to have the opposite effect on me and ended up keeping me awake. I switched it to noontime and I believe that it has been effective for me. I have great energy through out the day and as I mentioned, I have had no cravings, at all, since I started this regime, which also happens to coincide with Day 1 (Sun). I wanted to share this information because I believe that these amino acids really helped / helping me and it shouldn't have any effect on P1. I know how hard it is to fight hunger and cravings during P1 and if this helps combat those feelings, well, count me in! |
Rebooters!
Made it through the week. It seemed like it went fast. I notice that my progress has slowed down a bit in this past month. I need to recalculate my intake and be careful of the restricted. I have a small goal I am looking to get to by the end of this month, I am hopeful! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Hang in there! |
Reboot. wk 4
Hi IPer's,
I'm happy to report that I have lost 20 lb at my Wk 4 WI!! :carrot: I was hoping for more, given that I am so overweight but overall very pleased considering that my sleep and eating is erratic. Sometimes I sleep most of day, and can"t get my main meal in until 1 am after my ex settles down. Also at 62.5 yrs, I am definately post menopausal and going thru heaps of stress. I am sticking to the "old" Ph 1..was concerned about all the extra carbs they've added in the newer version. Was afraid I'd be craving "sweet" foods. For me better to go cold turkey. The message board and keeping track of my intake is helping me stick to it this time. I already feel better and my BP has come down 20pts. For any newbie that might be reading this thread...stick to it. The plan works! And once you go through carb detox, you will feel so much better. Thank you IP and my fellow IPer's!!:grouphug: |
Good morning Rebooters! Week 1 of reboot in the books for me. I lost 2.6#, which considering I am not too far from my goal is pretty darn good. I do feel all around better , smaller and significantly less bloated. I am ready to kick off week 2 today and hopefully inch a little bit closer to my goal weight. 2.8# to go until I am back at goal.

Way to go escape and jenny doodle!

How is everyone's week going? Closing in on my 2nd week being complete. Still feeling good. Enjoying that nice hollow feeling that you get on P1. Finally feeling comfortable as I inch closer back to my goal weight. Hope you are all doing well!

I feel like an old timer coming back for a much needed reboot! I've had 2 babies since my original IP journey (when baby #1 was 3yo), soon after I hit goal I got pregnant surprisingly fast, and while I was still nursing baby #2 at 18mo I got pregnant with baby #3! Now baby #3 is 18mo, and I am starting to wean off breastfeeding and am chomping at the bit to jump on to Phase 1 and get back down to it!
I admit, when I'm pregnant &/or nursing I don't do anything with respect to food or calories. My plan is to get back to goal weight, move to Phase 3 and then jump back to my old exercise routine (running group & Insanity tapes at lunch). I started a "Phase 2 light" plan the past few weeks (we had 2 weeks of out of town vacation and crazy work schedule/deadline), but hopefully when August comes I can go strict Phase 1 (once I completely wean off my sweet baby girl). This mornings weigh-in was 180.2lb, so I've got some work to do! |
Weekend Time!!!
We all know the weekend can be tough, so here is to good vibes for you all!
Drink lots of water and stay focused! Here's to REBOOTERS! :flow1::dancer: |
Hey Rebooters! How is everyone managing over the weekend? They are the hardest days to stay on track. I lost 2.2# this week, for a total of 4.8# in 2 weeks on this reboot. I am down to 135.6, so fully into my comfort zone. Since things seem to going alright, I am committing to another week on P1. Hope everyone had good weigh ins and are keeping on track!

Wow...jennydoodle you are truly and inspiration to us all!
Well I made it through the week...suffered a few bumps in the road but did not derail...I was out of town all week and had well prepared for my breakfast and lunch (bought a plug in cooler to keep all my veggies cold and fresh)...super time was a little different. There was no microwave in room (argh) still ate my chicken (cold) in a salad. Had a steak one night and asked for veggies only no potatoes...now the problem...my partner...sat in front of me every night having fresh bread, fries or poutine, chicken fingers, tacos, tortilla chips (caved here and had some with salsa)...she brought to the room candies, and chips and all kinds of junk...argh...kept offering me some even though I had said no thanks (caved and had some chips)...now to be fair she does not know that I am doing this diet but I told her I was trying to eat clean...oh yeah and after all this got home and kids were eating Doritos in my face...(which they usually do not do...I had been gone over a week...probably did not see me...lol)...so I caved and had some... Yesterday was a clean day and hoping today will also be... Made some cauliflower tacos yesterday with some pork carnitas...did not realize when I made this pork recipe (which was so awesome) that spices had carbs in it (argh...onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, chili powder,...about a total of 3tbps of spices for whole recipe)... Here is hoping to fit into my jean (pair #1) soon! Brigitte |
