Happy Tuesday ladies! I see a lot of ladies are starting the C25K program, that's awesome. I have been wanting to get out there and do something as well, my legs need some toning! :D I went to a spin class last week and loved it. I told my coach and she wasn't super excited, she said that the one thing she learned at her coach training was the spinning is a no go. Any ideas as to why? I'm thinking of sticking to it once a week while adding some lifting in 2 other days of the week.

Also - I had my extra packet before the class last week, is this ok or do I have to have it after? Just concerned because it's at 630pm, so not enough time to get dinner ready first but I am very hungry by then!

Thanks!

The issue is one that comes up with any high-intensity cardio exercise. If you do an exercise class that burns 400 calories (like some intense spin classes can)....for one, 1 packet is just not enough to replace those calories and for another that means you would have burned nearly HALF of all the calories you would eat for the day....leaving your body only about 4-500 calories to function on. It can put you in a bad way in the long run.

If you can participate in the spin class at LOWER intensity it would be better overall. Dial down the resistance, pedal more slowly, whatever will keep you from raising your heart rate too high.

How late are people having their last protein? I had my last protein drink perhaps 45min before going to bed. Is that too late?

Teags - did you have dinner after spin? I think the concern is that you need something ASAP after working out to refeed your body and give it the protein it needs for those muscles that you worked. Off of IP the general advice is to have protein within 60 minutes of working out, the sooner the better. So I would imagine this would be the same for IP.

Congrats! Also start C25K this week (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday will be my days). I think there are another two people doing the same thing now that we're all fairly well established in P1 and understand what our exercise limitations are.

How did it go? How are the muscles feeling? Did you up your salt intake to reduce cramping and did you make sure to get your extra protein packet in afterwards? Are you using a pre-recorded podcast or just going on the preset timers?

Interested in hearing how you got on. :)

I missed this last night, but I would like more info on the C25K. Mind sharing what you're using? Feel free to post or PM!

scorbett - thanks! I did indeed do it at a lower intensity than most, but also I am a newbie and am not used to the high resistance just yet.

kimo - I did have salmon and broccoli as soon as I got home, I was hungry again!

megan - I never eat after dinner, but that's a personal choice. I have my IP restricted snack between lunch and dinner. I may have a tea around 8 or so if I'm hungry, but I have chosen not to eat before bed. I know lots of ladies do though, so maybe they can weigh in! (HA!)

That surprised me too, although to be fair he did say "..going into starvation mode" as in, my body doesn't know when it's going to "get fed again." Not sure if that's any different, though.

As others have said, as long as I'm following the program (and yes, I will try harder to get all 3 packets in each day) and losing fat, all is good. It's just so nice to see that scale number go down!!

Thanks, all!!

Hi all - I did it! I HIT GOAL with a loss of 5.4 lbs this week (wow - I know!). Total loss to date: 114.6 lbs in 8 months and 1 week.

I am moving to Phase 2 starting today. I hope to drop a couple of more lbs in this phase before moving to Phase 3. I could not have done this without the forum. Thank you!

WTG Rayze!! So proud of you! 114 lbs! Wow!!:carrot: How long did it take you?

I am down 4lbs this week and a total of 80 so far. I took some before and current photos that I am trying to work up the nerve to post. I look at photos of myself from before and can'to believe I looked like that. I was never that heavy in my mind. :o
