[QUOTE=evemomma;5065588]Hooray on a FABULOUS first week Scorbett!!!!! Take it and run with it! I just spent a half hour with my oldest (he's 8) just hanging and talking before my daughter wakes up because he is still adjusting to our new schedule and missing our time together (I work evenings three days a week....which means a lot less Mom time once school starts). We're still trying to get in the groove here.

SGRealtor......get thee to a thrift store and get some figure-hugging clothes! You will find that people will REALLY start to notice a difference once you shed those baggy clothes. But beware, you are about to go through clothes like nobody's business. I found some sizes I actually skipped altogether....so don't get too attached to anything you find that fits. You may even want to pick a few things that are too tight because you will quickly find (with great satisfaction, I might add) that you grow right into them!

I have to see if there is one near me.

NSV this morning - tried on my new size 12 shorts I bought on clearance last weekend and there is a nice gap in the waist. I needed a belt! They are Old Navy shorts, and I think their stuff is usually cut big, so I'm not getting overly excited, but it's a nice feeling!

Yeah!:carrot::carrot:

My sister talked to me about my weight loss and decided she wanted to try IP but really didn't have the money to go to a clinic and afford the IP food. Because of the information and guidance I've gotten from this site I gave her all the tools to do IP with Alts and told her what to look for in an Alt, where to get them, which ones work, etc. and she has been my diet buddy for the past couple weeks - sending me recipes, her dinner, etc. She is pretty much doing IP P2 with Alts. She does an EAS shake in the morning, protein and veggies for lunch, Quest Bar in the afternoon and then cooks dinner (and takes the leftovers for lunch the next day).

I'm happy to say that her starting weight was 278 a couple weeks ago and she is weighing in every Friday morning with me and she was down 7 lbs this week and she is at 266 this morning. That's 12 lbs in less than 2 weeks.

Love that you are helping out your family!

This puts my "super stretch" goal of losing 100 pounds before a big trip within my reach. I will at least be very close. I am leaving on October 15th for a "Lands of the Bible" cruise. We don't come back until late on November 1st. Handling the trip is another matter for another day, but for right now I am doing the 86 pounds lost happy dance!

Thanks to everyone that posts on these boards. I may not always post or reply but I always read and I learn a lot from all of you.

Yeah Grace!!!

Careful, GraceRev... We wouldn't want to see you kidnapped in Egypt or bombed in Israel/Palestine. Come back safe!

scorbett0113 & GraceRev - congratulations on the losses!

I was beyond ecstatic when I weighed myself this morning and was down 10.4 lbs in a ridiculously short amount of time. I do need to qualify the loss by saying that I had had a weekend of debauchery with way too many cheats including as much wine as I wanted and these fat-bomb bars that my sis-in-law jokingly calls 'protein bars...because they have peanut butter in them.' Combine this with week before TOM & I experienced some heavy duty scale shock which spurred me into strict Phase 1 action.

So while I am relieved to see the scale go down, it did make me realize some very important things...
~I had gotten sloppy with my Phase 1 day that follows my 'treat/indulgence' day.
~I was eating way too many portions of trail mix/almonds/mixed nuts/almond butter (food without breaks for me)
~I was dipping into the box of cereal and snacking more than I care to admit
~I've identified that when I get around certain family members I seem to think that I should eat whatever I want in unrestricted quantities.

This was a nice wake-up call for me and I'm grateful for that shock & am motivated to keep moving back to my goal. Thanks for listening:)

Congrats on your loss! I'm a little confused as to your post. Are you doing a 'treat/indulgence' day while you are in P1 or were you in maintenance? I just saw that your profile is new so I am just trying to clarify.

Amazing success, GraceRev!!!!! I'm so thrilled for you!

LOL...Fort Lee is where I SAY my family is from if the person I'm explaining it to doesn't know the area. Edgewater is so small that most people don't know where it is. Fort Lee is more known to outsiders.

First time posting!

Boo... I'm on week THREE and have only lost .6 lbs. I have 24.4 lbs to go. I am following the IP program with these coach approved exceptions:
- I have an extra cup of black coffee most afternoons
- I have about 10 pieces of sugarfree Trident gum with xylotol
- I've had a 4th protein packet on days where I exercise or am hungry (about 3 times a week)
- I've fallen short on my water by 2-3 cups most days (not ok with coach)

SO sad about this!

Some concerns I have had:
- Jicama is on the veggie list, and I have been eating it most days. I looked up the nutrient value, and a medium jicama (slightly less then 2 cups chopped) has 58g of carbs, with 32g coming from fiber. This seems really high... any thoughts?
- any opinions about the gum?
- I have 1-2 eggs a day, and my coach said that 1 egg = 2 oz of protein. Is it okay if I have this in the morning along with my cappuccino shake?
- Can I also have a cup of the veggies in the morning? Egg with mushroom and spinach sounds good.
- I save my last "snack" until late evening... is there any concern with having a shake before I go to bed?
- I have forgotten my last two cal-mag supplements a few times.
- I am using Coconut Oil instead of Olive Oil, as I prefer the taste. Any concerns with this?
- For what it is worth - I have been using WF syrup and bacon ranch dressing
- I had been making the pancakes with Crispy cereal, and just saw yesterday that some vanilla extracts have sugar in them. I checked mine, and, sure enough, there was sugar in it. I will use WF syrup to sweeten it next time

Any other helps or hints? I have felt dizzy a few times, and I have a pretty bad headache, and sluggish and tired most days. I have taken a nap every other day or so. I had expected this to go away by week three. I feel like my metabolism has taken a nosedive.

I should probably add that my TOM is later this week -- so that is probably having a negative effect (on weight, mood, and metabolism!)

Maybe today is just a bad day -- but I had expected to be in a better place by now......

I know you've already gotten advice, but here's a few ideas that popped in my head based on your post.

1) Instead of using gum to help with hunger/keto-breath, use water! If you're chewing gum, you won't be drinking. So, keep water with you at all times: in the car, at your desk (or whatnot). I'm a therapist and have always used gum to keep my breath fresh in sessions....but I switched to chugging water (water breath ain't so bad) and just have to visit the ladies room between every session (oh yeah....it's crazy but worth it).

2) Try mixing up your food combos....I think our bodies can get used to the same ol' same ol'. I tried to have a nice mix of raw and cooked veggies. I think raw lettuce (and spinach) make a big difference. Also, mix your proteins up a bit....red and white meats, fish, eggs. Even though there are differing fat amounts in the meat, my body likes variety! Too lowfat and I get 'stuck'.

3)Post in the 100% thread....it's full of IPers who are committed to trying to stay as on-plan as posrsible. Even though some of the IP rules may seem confusing or even that they don't really matter, following the rules to a tee will help you flex your "resistenace" muscle....and then you find it's easier and easier to stay on plan and get to your goal within no time.

Good luck!

Hi - I began IP on 8/12 and was seeing good results but this last week has been so frustrating! I had a 2lb gain and am just now back down to where I was last Sat. I am walking about 2 miles/day. Shake for B, shake and veggies for lunch and lean protein veggies for dinner...not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Are you adding a packet after your walks? IP is meant to be done without exercise, and if you choose to exercise you need to replace those calories with a non-restricted packet within an hour afterward. Exercise does not speed up the weight loss on this plan.

Are you getting your third protein packet in? IP is low calorie enough without skipping any packets.

ChipnDip 09-05-2014 12:49 PM

I went out for late breakfast today. I had my morning packet at 6:30 am so I decided to have a egg white omelet with veggies. Should I skip a packet today? There was probably 3 egg whites.

Hi Kissi - sorry for the confusion - I've put the info out there on a couple threads but it gets confusing...I am on a reboot and was very guilty of 'lurking' instead of being an active participant of the site my first go 'round. Treat days belong only in Phase 4 - I never did/do them prior to maintenance! Sorry if I confused anyone else with my post. So to clarify...

I previously went through all 3 phases strictly per protocol prior to entering maintenance (from late 2013-early 2014).
I regained some of the weight that I had lost through poor decision-making in maintenance and started a reboot before things get truly out of hand and apparently was blessed with a significant water weight drop. My post was more some musings that I was having as it relates to what I need to change in the future to increase my chances for success in maintenance. I thought others might learn from my mistakes;)

kissi 09-05-2014 12:57 PM

Thanks for clarifying!!

I'm going to keep checking in here after I hit goal - or at least I have a goal to keep checking in here after I hit goal. This forum has really helped me keep on track.

Hi Scorbett - I'm just curious how you make the determination of whether or not the activity you complete requires an additional packet or not? I do a daily weight workout (low weight, high reps, lots of body weight exercies) that last approximately 40 minutes. Would you (or anyone else who would be willing to weight in) recommend an additional packet?
