How awesome are you?! Wow! We have similar goals and you are ahead of me so I'm really motivated by you. Would you mind sharing how many inches you have lost? GREAT JOB!

So I have a question... I don't want to unintentually cheat, so I thought I'd ask here.... I asked my coach if snacks like beef jerky would be good for a non-IP snack (even if it counts toward my protein for the day) and she said it would if it was 3G carbs or less... I was so pumped because I love jerky! But I bought some and this stuff has 3g carbs, but it also has 3g of sugar.... does that mean I can't have it since it has sugar in it? Or does it count as part of the carbs? Sorry if its such a rookie question...

beef jerky: i like it, too!

I dehydrate my own ground beef and then don't have to worry about any of the additives. Could that work for you?

I bought a little nesco dehydrator on account of someone's suggestion in this forum several months ago (I think it was LizRRR). It works great. I make kale chips and also the beef jerky. The dehydrator cost about $65 but I bet you could find one for even less. And I think a low heat oven might work well, too.

I don't understand why you are having a non ip snack? What is your coach talking about? If i were you i would say no to the jerky. That 3 carbs of sugar will mess you up and the serving size is very small for those 3 carbs. There is great potential to eat too much of it and its not worth it to knock yourself out of ketosis over jerkey! If you have to have a snack - and I'm not judging I just truly don't understand - why not an egg white omelet full of very low carb allowed veggies. It would be more like a meal but would fall into IP protocol. You can also whip up a couple egg whites in your mixer with a few drops of stevia and fold it into your puddings to make a larger IP meal more like a chocolate mousse. That could also hold you over a little better. AT the end of the day you would be much better off with a 4th packet than to supplement with a non IP snack. There are a couple of packets that have only 1 carb! The orange drink is one of them. You can also combine one orange drink with one vanilla drink or vanilla pudding and break the final mixture into TWO separate IP meals of creamcicles.

Okay my day went from a good day to a crap day in a second! I had a run with a guy that was a complete and total butthole. (Sorry for the language) he just flipped my mood so quickly!

my honey brought home a burger and fries today. I cried because I truly thought it would make me feel better. He's as so sweet he went and ate his dinner in the garage so I didn't have to smell it. Then he felt so bad he kept apologizing to me. We had a good talk about food and using it as a crutch.

I love the silly boy

Honestly, I'm not sure what your coach is thinking
First, your meat shouldn't have ANY carbs (there are no "carbs" to subtract the sugar from...do you see that on the sheet anywhere?)

Second, dehydrated meat does not equal raw meat for measurement. How would you measure/weigh/exchange?

I love jerky too. I also love a LOT of other things that aren't on IP but I don't eat them while doing the IP plan. Acutally, many things will need to be eliminated from my life so I can learn to maintain. And the #1 thing: stop figuring out ways to cheat and just follow the rules.

I've said this more than once today.
You are either on IP or you aren't. If you're not following it, perhaps a different low carb (or other) plan would work for you?

To follow IP, the P1 sheet is very straightforward. The rules are there.

As well you should - what a sweetheart! Mine would never go eat in the garage but I have gotten used to him eating his stuff and me staying on IP.
Surprisingly, I have not been tempted by the smell or sight of anything so far. Of course, I have not been confronted by a homemade cheesecake, either.

My DH's significant birthday is in a few weeks and most of the food, at his request, is whatever are his favorite dishes at Costco. I am OK with that, but I am making the dessert, a Reese's Peanut Butter cheesecake. That will be my challenge.

But, both of our sons are coming home for his birthday (one just finished a 6th month deployment and will fly in from Hawaii). I know I will want to be proud and keep face with them. My Marine son has not seen me forever so I hope he notices the difference. It is almost 30 pounds since IP and 50 since my highest.

I just made the cauliflower tortillas everyone has been talking about. So good! I made them into open-faced tacos/fajitas.

The recipe made 3 small tortillas per 1 cup/cauliflower. They were kinda hard to eat tiny (had to use fork & knife) so I think next time I'm going to make 2 or even 1 large tortilla. I made enough for supper tomorrow so all I have to do is toast the tortillas on the frying pan to warm them up. Ahhh, I'll love tomorrow because I won't have to cook! I think I'm going to try to make this into a pizza next time (with red pepper "tomato" sauce and 1/2 cup of veggie toppings [1 cup cauliflower, 1/2 cup worth sauce, 1/2 cup toppings). Yay for healthy eating!!

At 8 PM my sweet neighbor came over with homemade tamale pie and refried beans. She didn't know about IP and I didn't want to tell her or hurt her feelings. DH ate it all and I just asked about the flavors. I LOVE Mexican food! Anyway, I stayed strong today as many of us did and tomorrow is a new day.

When I am dehydrating meat, I divide 8 oz of meat into 8 portions. I dehydrate those portions as 8 individual segments thereby knowing that each segment has one ounce of protein in it.

A piece (or more than one piece) of jerky counts in my daily protein alotment and therefore falls foursquare inside IP protocols.

Very different to do it homemade vs processed/purchased.
It can also be done carb-free this way.

Sounds like Mexican was the theme/flavor of the nite. We had tacos with the tortillas, too (I used egg whites).
Mine weren't quite right...too thin & too small. I'll fix that next time...which will be SOON!

I have a question about the egg whites from a carton. I mentioned them at work and one of my coworkers said the egg beaters weren't good. Are there any other brands or does anyone have a recommendation?

Amen Lisa. IP is black & white, there's no in between and no guess work. You're either on it or you aren't - I agree ten fold.

I just bought at Wal-Mart a container called "Just Egg Whites" and it is what it says - just egg whites. Two tblsp. = 1 large egg white. Found it very handy to make crispy cereal pancakes, etc.
