Unhappy Argh!

Today just stunk royally utterly STUNK and SUCKED EGGS. We are clean out of dang near everything and I mean everything. We had a showing for our house today so we spent time cleaning and detailing the house.

We left for abt 30 mins and was hoping to stop and get some veggies but we did not.

We came home dh made goat khari (goat sautéed in a smidge of oil and onion, then seasoned and water is added to the pan and it simmers. I would have eaten except for the onion and sautéed or little bit of frying with onions.

I had nothing to make a marinade with for the chicken...........then DH goes to the store and gets stuff we need until I go more this week. Bless his hear he got me WF chocolate and caramel!!

**sigh** I ate what we had and it was not much around here!

Tomorrow is a better day!

You would have been fine eating what your husband made. Onions are only an issue when they are carmelized but if they were well cooked you could have picked them out.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Timing is everything. Continue to try, it will get easier.

Default Bag or two frozen veggies

SaraBell...if you have even a tiny freezer ...perhaps you can allocate room for 1-2 bags or boxes of frozen spinach or broccoli for those time you just can't/don't quite make it to the grocery store? Even though I don't have a busy unpredictable family to care for day to day anymore...there are times getting out or making one more stop has been more than off the range of possible for me. A bag of steamer broccoli or cauliflower has been the savior in our house. They don't take up much room at all...and I only use them in emergencies, going for fresh even if there is frozen on hand. Just used a bag this weekend...and wondered why I don't do frozen more often...it's easy...and faster! (And it was just as good as fresh)

We have 2 freezers One on the fridge and the other a small cube freezer in the garage. I love the steam perfect bags of cauliflower and broccoli and stuff, they have them 10 for $10 at the store. BUT we go through stuff so fast in this house with 5 of us. It is hit or miss with dinner: sometimes others eat veggies and sometimes they don't.

DD will eat any veggies, DH is hit or miss he will sometimes. DS #1 not at all and DS#2 (who is 2) I am trying to get him to eat and try new things all the time but he spits so much out trial and error and repeat with him.

I will be going to the store either wed or Thursday. This week is so packed with things that my head is going to be spinning!

My go-to item when I am out of everything is canned spinach. Luckily, I like it and it amuses me to pretend to be Popeye when I open and eat a can of spinach! Aaarrrgh! ; )
