Default Silly Question - Hair Loss

Since I started the diet it seems that I am losing a lot more hair than I used to. Granted I have long hair but it feels like I am losing a "fur ball" everytime I wash my hair ! I wanted to see it this was normal when on the protocol or if it is just me being paranoid - LOL

Have a wonderful weekend

It is normal and common with this diet. I had quite a bit of hair loss for the first 4-5 months. I have a lot of hair so no one else noticed and I never saw my scalp or anything but I noticed I was losing it when showering, brushing my hair, seeing more pieces clung to my shirt, etc. It has all started to grow back in though- It was long enough to see it was growing back in about 4-5 months after I stopped losing. My hairdresser noticed too. So don't be alarmed or worried. When I noticed I was losing hair my coach recommended biotin so I've been taking that. Don't know if that is what helped or if it was just time but it is beneficial for multiple things and pretty inexpensive (compared to IP vitamins anyway) so it couldn't hurt.

yah i noticed hair loss too...
i started using "New Nordic Hair Volume" per the packages instructions. But I had to change around how to i took my supplements from IP b/c the hair loss prevention supplements contained Zinc as well...which would have put me well over the daily recommendation on Zinc...

Agreed, I cut my hair about 2 months in and went from long to short. Every shower, every day I am cleaning out my hairbrush or the shower trap! I appreciate hearing it will not be permanent but it does make me wonder about adding in collagen.

from what i have read online about collagen, ingesting it does very little to help our hair, nails and skin as many companies would have us believe. That being said, i still drink a blueberry-cran IP drink or eat a IP jello daily cuz it has collagen in it lol...

Biotin is really the supplement of choice to help with hair and nails.

After researching about biotin, I found out that besides carrots, nuts, milk and fruits, the following products are high in biotin and are IP approved
1) Swiss chard : top producer of biotin - also a great part of a healthy salad choice that will provide antioxidants
2) Whole Eggs
3) Halibut
4) Vegetables : onions, cucumbers and cauliflowers

I think this is good to know and will incorporate the swiss chard into my diet...even though I never tried it !!

Have a great evening !

Good to know. I eat swiss chard in my mixed greens almost very day. And I eat cauliflower more than any other veggie. However, I mentioned to my DH I am losing much more hair than usual. He doesn't think so, but I have very thick hair, so it isn't noticeable to him. But my bathroom floor is covered after I do my hair each day!

I had my hair done yesterday and my hairdresser said there was a small change in my volume of hair but she thought it was not too bad overall. I get nervous over all the loose hair I find but I am confident it will grow back when I phase off.
